Can't we all just get along? Lost some guys, gained some guys. f%#* the leavers, let's win some games. I have George and Smails on ignore, and even though I'm tempted to open their posts, and respond, I'm not doin it. Baby steps! Go Beavs!

I was wrong. With the steamrolling at the hands of Notre Dame and the exodus of a lot of our best players, there was a while there when I feared we would fall in one fell swoop. I didn't post about it, but I was definitely thinking that the collapse of the Pac and the departure of Smith was too much and a slide into mediocrity-or worse-had begun. I've always been a pessimist and my instincts took over.
And then good recruits/transfers began trickling in before a flood. Same with good coaching hires. I don't know how the new coaches and players will work out, but on paper I've emerged from darkness. I am very excited to see what spring ball and then fall ball brings.
If the results on the field resemble the results on paper, Bray will write his own narrative as a legend.

I'm looking at our projected 2 deep and I like what I see. Johnson and McCoy at QB. Anderson and Clemons at WR. Our D Line has Hill and Pommee. DJW at OLB/Edge and some new faces in the secondary. And as somebody used to say: "We're not done yet!"

I know this speculation will make people on this site go crazy, but I have this sinking feeling that Damien Martinez will not be on our roster next season. The NIL money that will be thrown his way, like Omar Speights last year by LSU, will be too much for him to turn down. Hope I am wrong. (BTW Love the job Bray and staff are doing in the transfer portal).

Let's just take him at his word; it seems pretty good to me.

Great post.

It has been already... nobody is sitting around waiting to make an offer, they have made their offers and he stayed with us. If he is going to leave, he would of by now. The portal is closed. and yes there is another transfer period after the spring, and anything is possible, it is exceedingly unlikely he goes at this point. In my mind, the only think that would push him out is if he gets out there with offensive coaches and just decides the scheme changes and everything don't work for him and it will affect his future/draft stock. He has publicly said multiple times now, over and over he is a beaver lock.

If the results on the field resemble the results on paper, Bray will write his own narrative as a legend. As fans, we live and die with every blip and bleep on the radar. We also sit around and stare at said radar all damn day waiting for the latest blips, hoping it's good news of course, but sometimes it's not. It was bleak on the surface there for a while and so it was understandable to see fellow Beavs lose some hope, fear the worse, or dismiss anything positive. The good news is, for those who don't follow the program 24/7 like we do, most of those negative blips never showed up on their radars. They only saw the filtered version which included things like successful seasons, some big wins, one of the most touted players in the country leaving a "big time" program to come here to play, lots of players on watch lists or receiving varying conference or national honors, and a great showing by former Beavs in the league. The overall image that's out there for Beaver Football is pretty strong and it's showing in our ability to recruit both HS and existing college players right now. Add to that the electricity and pure pleasing appeal of our new stadium full of fans during tv broadcasts and our sick AF school colors, and we have fundamentals that just can't be kept down.

He has publicly said multiple times now, over and over he is a beaver lock. Plus... where is he going to go to be more of an important cog? Or, a bigger part of the scheme and be the locker room leader? Any move he makes could mean more &, however he's now the new guy, adapting to a new staff, teammates, and scheme. With zero guarantee of being "the guy". Sure, he possibly could get me NIL dollars, but that doesn't appear to be what he's about. He also, unless because of injury (knock on wood), has a key spot in this program for two more years. If he, and whomever he trusts in giving advice, looks at the NFL with a critical eye... the type of backs that are drafted for big money and some of the former studs OSU has produced recently and where they've fit on rosters... OSU may be a great option for a 4th year, 2nd degree, etc. One can hope anyway! FWIW... at 2167 yds he is 757 yds of passing JJ into 5th place on the all-time rushing list. A mere 1611 yds from moving into the #2 spot. He is currently the leader all-time at 6.1 ypc. He is 2635 yds behind Ken, and at the 6.1 ypc he only needs 432 carries over the next two seasons... but, that is about 40 more per season than he has averaged so far.

I don’t see Martinez leaving this offseason. The money is out there and he’s been nothing but one of our biggest rallying points since late November. Even not playing in the bowl, all he did was keep talking up every new recruit and hyping coming back. I can’t imagine the effect he has had on us getting/keeping at least some of the talent we’ve gotten is a small one.
I don’t think he will come close to the record. We won’t have him two years, unless he gets hurt. I don’t have anything to base this off of except my own logic and observation, but I would be shocked if he didn’t go pro after 2024. He’s big and athletic enough, and he knows he’s the man here. I can’t imagine he doesn’t see 2024 as a chance to positively blow it up and make himself a really good draft option in spring 2025. But that’s just my opinion.
EDIT: the “3Nout” tag in his tweet reinforces that thinking on my part just a little…
