And when you have Troy Claunch, 7-1 is still a game. Lol.

Love the way Claunch is getting after it. You back up the best player in America and a lot of folks may not know who he is, but we do. By the end of the season, a lot of people will. I was encouraged by the way everyone was grinding in the last inning. Much tougher at the plate. Great job by McDowell making the center fielder hip and easily beating throw to second to get it started.
I’m afraid that Melton hasn’t much to inspire confidence in his bat. Hoping he’ll loosen up and put the ball in play.

Washburn showed better velo than in past with fastball 92-94. Breaking ball is nasty at 83-86. If he can get that over consistently look out.

Struggling mightily to consistently throw strikes today. Then we allow their 35 year old left fielder to hit a 3 run HR. Don’t know his credentials before today (or where he was when they played BYU yesterday), but we’ve made that dude look all-world today. I’m sure that Mitch is going to get all of his pitchers some work down here, and this is only one game so he’s trying to see how people handle adversity, who he can count on, etc., but this feisty but just decent team is hitting the crap out of our guys today. Considering that pitching is supposed to be an asset, I sure would love to somebody on the bump who looks dominant this weekend. Maybe we don’t have anyone who fits that description, but I’d settle for steady and clever. Way too many balls thrown in these first two games. The lead off hitter for Gonzaga is living on first base seemingly every inning.

Washburn looks to have real talent. He better learn to keep the ball down. When was the last time our Staff gave up 15 Hits. Not good

It wasn’t my war! You asked me, I didn’t ask you! And I did what I had to do to win. But somebody wouldn’t let us win!
