I know...way too early...but any thoughts out there on starting 8? Who will take over at SS?

I suspect that will have to play out during Fall practice. Grenier and Philip forced OSU to play several high school shortstops at second and third and in McMahans case, center field.
We have numerous former shortstops that could be candidates. Armstrong, Dukart, Harvey, Mendazona, Gretler, Meckler and incoming freshman, Dernedde and Boyd. I'm not clear on Valero's status-is he here? If he is, add him to the group. McMahan was a two-time all-state SS at Lynwood HS in Washington.
Armstrong might have the inside track but Boyd is intriguing. He will probably be the fastest player on the team, has the glove and arm to play there early. He's a .400 hitter in HS ball.

He is in the student directory which, again, means squat.

I will make an attempt, by position:
C Claunch 1B Ober 2B Harvey SS Armstrong 3B Gretler LF Casey CF Jones RF McMahan DH McGarry
Starting rotation
Chamberlain Phennigs Burns Mundt
I am positive this will not be right, but you asked...It is a lineup that if they all play to the high end of last years individual performances with the natural progression and improvement from year to year could be a lot of fun to watch.

I think that’s a really good start for a prospective lineup.
Something tells me that Harvey might challenge at SS.
One of the many reasons to catch the 4 games in Surprise AZ in Feb. 2020

It's a nice starting point. I have a feeling Dukart may be in that group as well. We have options, which is nice. Some guys will take a big leap forward, and others will have a stumble. Let's hope for more of the former than the latter.

I agree on Dukart...not sure where exactly but I think he's in the lineup...have a feeling Armstrong might be out of it but still play a lot with sub late in everygame at 3B and some starts too

4 months, plus a few days, until 2020 season.
As far as lineup, wouldn’t it be sweet if we had a couple (or even one) true freshman, ala Madrigal/Grenier step up in fall ball, and Feb. 2020, and make their way into the lineup.
Lotsa newcomers this year (on the early roster listing), including the long anticipated Cesar Valero Sanchez.

I fully expect Mulholland to be our Friday night guy.

Thanks for posting this. I am stoked! Look at the depth that we have! Not a single new name on that list and we have all the positions covered plus Dukart waiting in the wings and newcomers fighting for a spot!!

I fully expect Mulholland to be our Friday night guy. I really like the guy, but, unless Mully has put at least another 5 mph on his fastball in the off-season, if Mully is our Friday night guy, Oregon State is officially in trouble. Mully is a three inning guy max. He is great to bring in as a change-of-pace at the end, because his mechanics make his pitches very deceptive, but I do not think that that translates into a full game, especially a Friday night guy.

Is Ober really going to stick at 1B? I think that he really has to work to be a serviceable defensive 1B.

You don't need a hero at 1B, just a guy who makes the routine plays.
