The second best reason why I liked the Beaves winning this championship is because I got so tired of SEC fans coming on this board and calmly, matter-of-factly, and most of all, condescendingly instructing us that OSU has simply not seen the likes of SEC baseball and we just didn't stand a chance. SEC ball is just another level of play.
It got old, fast. And we had to hear it from fans of every SEC team we faced. I know it didn't come from all of their fans (great fans from every team we faced stopped by here), and it probably seems worse than it was, but the chunk of fans who had to come here and instruct us on their superiority … gad, get over yourselves.
I even agree that the SEC is the best conference in baseball (and football). But the separation is not that severe, and certainly not severe enough to, you know, prevent another title from OSU in baseball.

I think SEC baseball is a tamed down version of Gorilla Ball. They like big armed pitchers and impatient power pitchers. Very little small ball (which scored last nights tying run, and a couple today) they don't have the patience to take close pitches and grind out AB's.
Sure, SEC ball is fun to watch, and produces gaudy stats, but there is more to the game than power on power. Small ball is a precise, thinking mans game. Having the ability to play both takes a rare team.

On the other hand, the SEC has made a lot of investments in their baseball programs, as have their fans. They've done a lot for the game having the level of interest that it has. Meanwhile, historic programs like USC and ASU haven't even bothered to keep their programs functioning well. Fortunately Stanford seems to have at least invested in keeping good coaching. UW and hole have made significant investments (the latter seems to have been terribly misspent).
So while the SEC gets a lot of love, they are bringing the fans and investing in their programs. Maybe they aren't as good as their press clippings but they are bringing the fans, and those fans want to hear it, so the likes of ESPN would be foolish to not nurture that.

Hey SEC: Whose your daddy?
As for football: Alabama is great. But they have lost what, two conference games in the last six years? The SEC is Alabama and the 13 dwarfs. Alabama makes the rest of the conference look great.

OSU was one foul ball pop out from being swept in 2 games. Sure Abel pitched a great game and completely shut down Arkansas, Hess did it as well this year.
And who is to say that statement isn't true? Just because they face a pitcher like him every week doesn't mean it is any easier to hit the guy when he is on.

Every winning team is often one or two plays away from defeat. The fact is that OSU ate SEC teams for lunch in this year's playoffs (how's 6-1 sound?). And I'd be surprised if the top 3-4 teams in the Pac couldn't more than hold their own vs top SEC teams year to year. In that vein, I'd love to see more in-season SEC-PAC non league series. The simple fact is that the SEC's contract with ESPN and the publicity it's resulted in has given the SEC hype and PR advantages the PAC lacks.

How many SEC baseball players does it take to catch a pop up foul for the national championship? We don't really know but it's more than 3.

National Champs: Oregon State Golden Spikes Award: Vaughn - CAL Brooks Wallace Award: Grenier - Oregon State
I dunno. Pac-12. Conference of Champions!
Seriously, SEC is the probably the best conference in baseball, but, not that much more than the Pac-12.
Go Beavs!

The ESPN rant is a little tired. ESPN isn't forcing 10,000+ fans into the stadiums in Starkville and Baton Rouge. The top five teams in the country in attendance are all SEC. We're #18. Baseball is just bigger in the South.

The simple fact is that the SEC's contract with ESPN and the publicity it's resulted in has given the SEC hype and PR advantages the PAC lacks. No whining here man. Go look at me post. I wanted OSU to beat Mississippi State, and posted on here that I thought OSU would win both games before the series started. This OSU team is ridiculously talented team. Madrigal, Larnach, and Grenier are legit hitters that got drafted as such. Then Adley might be a better hitter than all of those guys. Having four guys on one college team is crazy. OSU pretty much destroyed all teams they played this year, and they won the National Championship. Sure the top 3-4 teams in the Pac 12 would match up well with the top 3-4 teams in the SEC not really a surprising statement. However, the SEC had 10 teams make the NCAA tournament. Would you say the top 10 teams in the PAC12 would matchup well with the SEC?
