The bottom line is that Casey always says, "It is a simple game. You catch ball, you throw the ball and you hit the ball." We only hit the ball against UNC and we almost pulled it out. Our team goes as far as 1-6 in the line up carries us. No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 in our lineup did not really do anything at the plate today to help us offensively. We have days like that. That is baseball.

Nobody's "fault." Win as a team, lose as a team.

Nobody's "fault." Win as a team, lose as a team. Baseball is exactly that! The other 8 had ample ops to pick Luke up. They did not. If pitching falters, the other two must step forward. If pitching and D falter the bats need to score "touchdowns". OSU failed because they weren't the TEAM they have been. Happens over 60+ games. And, for BEAVER fans... not very effing often.

Good point. I admit I haven’t seen every Beaver bb game over the years, but I was trying to remember the last time I saw them play this poorly.

Beavs sucked. Plain and simple. Luke Pitching, fielding, mental focus...... and we still had a shot. Ask Texas how they feel.....
Beavs have it in them to come back .... it will definitely take better starting pitching. And they need to be ready to play. That wasn’t Beavs yesterday. Let’s see how they respond. This bracket really isn’t that tough.

Its amazing how many games are determined by umpire calls. A bad call at 3rd, close pitches called strikes/balls etc. Its interesting that NCAA doesn't show the strike zone rectangle that they do for the majors.I would think that the NCAA would want to have calls made correctly even if the umpire has to be shown up. I would think that the student/athletes would be more important than umpires. It seems to be too that Luke has had control problems at the beginning of the game through the playoffs. Maybe the crap is finally affecting him.
Not making any excuses. We sucked! We sucked Major!!

Were we breaking in a bunch of new mitts on Friday?
Our defense was atrocious, and Luke's control was just as bad.
I thought Eisert and Chamberlain did a good job of giving "our bats a chance".

True, Luke did put us in the hole early with his erratic control. On the other hand, our 2, 3, and 6 hitters did not help us out offensively. They were 2-13. They just did not seem ready for the game on Saturday from the very first pitch.

Offense was just fine as a whole, w/Kwan's late AB probably being the worst possible time for his worst possible AB. You could look at either of the Minnesota box scores and find 2 or 3 guys in the top 6 who didn't do much.

Baseball is funny. Both bracket favorites lost, neither played well.
I would rather be in our situation than theirs.

This was the second game in the playoffs that LH did not bring his best stuff. Against the kitty cats at Goss, he had a relatively bad game, but the defense was nails. Still won 14-1. I agree we lost as a "team". Way too many uncharacteristic errors in that game. Not to make excuses, but would you want to play in 90+ degree heat in black unis?

I would agree, although it's concerning to me how shaky Luke has looked in his last two starts. He just wasn't even close to finding his command on Saturday. And with one loss already, there's no margin for error. If we make it to another Luke start, whether on Wednesday or Friday, he needs to be on an extremely short leash. I have to wonder if all the increased scrutiny and pressure and the larger stage of Omaha is getting inside his head. You know he is hearing it from opposing players and fans. He just hasn't looked like the same pitcher to me ever since the news about his past came out.

The last two games have definitely been shaky, but I think that he has done pretty well since the news came out.
