So the NCAA had once again tried to screw us with this match-up. Don't think for one second that this isn't yet another snub. They can justify this any way they wish. Bottom line is "scoreboard baby", as it always has been. As long as the ump doesn't call a strike when the ball cuts across the other batters box, I like our odds.
GO BEAVS!

We may yet see Crooked Street Greg again this year. That jacka$$ is STILL umping this post-season and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in Omaha again.
After all....who's broadcasting the CWS AND has a huge contact with the SEC? You don't think that that group would be above doing all it can to make sure their contract with the SEC is still worth it?? I can easily imagine them suggesting to the powers that be that Greg would do just fine at the CWS this year as well.

Quit complaining about the umps Beavs. Our catcher Papierski hit a homerun off of one of those pitches he was calling 6 inches off the plate. He called it both ways

He called it both ways [br Our guys are taught plate discipline. That means you don't swing at pitches that far out of the zone. You rely on decent umpiring, and you take a called ball four. We didn't get to ball four with that POS umpire. And how the hell he ever got behind the plate during this game is beyond me. No ump should ever officiate at a post season game that involves a team from his conference.

If Crooked Street Greg "...gets a [sic] osu game" vs another SEC team, I'll be amazed if he DOESN'T put the "D" in us again.
Ain't it amazin'...... Snarkfin may have finally managed to show some real baseball insight.

Just curious, how do they select umpires for regionals and SR's? Is it the hosting teams conference umps or do they (NCAA) "try" to make it neutral? Sorry if this has already been addressed in previous threads. Didn't know if it was like football how they try to have different crews from conferences that aren't affiliated with either school in the bowl game.

But, clearly, current policy allows ump(s) from the same league as one of the teams on the field. How stupid is that?

I honestly didn't spend one second thinking this is any kind of snub. I can't believe some folks are still hung up on last year. Move on, the NCAA isn't trying to screw anyone.

There is SEC bias in most sports venues, not just baseball. The powers that control college sports (NCAA/ESPN) do not want a West coast team in the Championship game. So they purposely make the track to get there as difficult as they can. Snubbed in 2016, umpire BS in Omaha last year, and now this. Plus look at how the Supers are set to eliminate two of the four potential Pac-12 teams. Accident? I don't think so. This had happened before. We have been sent to some of the most difficult Regionals in the past decade, in an attempt to eliminate us early. This is real, and it sucks.

Only real in very VERY few people's minds... you know, those that call into shows like Ground Zero/Clyde Lewis. I hope someday that Meggs gets hired by the NCAA. That would drive some on here to the loony bin!

I'm not disagreeing with you regarding the SEC bias, but the way that this bracket is set up actually gives a west coast team a better chance of making it to the Championship game by placing all 7 west coast teams on one side of the bracket.

As Casey said, it all comes down to money - in my mind that is the big bias. Unlike the basketball tourneys, which generate huge viewership and massive revenues for the NCAA, with small teams that are cheap to move around and house, baseball is still a niche college sport, with big teams and staffs that are a lot more expensive. Oregon State is one of the few teams on the West Coast that pulls in the fans and perhaps a bit larger viewership than most of the other WC schools, especially with most of the big market teams outside looking in. Omaha might love us, but E$PN would dread another OSU/UNC final, or UW, or Furd or even UCLA vs anyone final, unless they can get an SEC team in there. Last season, they ended up with what they wanted - this season, they won't
