When I was a kid, I used to love those Robert Ludlum global corporate/government conspiracy genre novels. Then I got close enough to see government workings and have spent a quarter century at seemingly well run large corporations where it is difficult to conspire hard enough to get a product out the door.
Assuming the NCAA isn't that different, I have decided "do not ascribe to malice what is more easily explained by stupidity".
Now that does not preclude the existence of stupid individuals who can't tell a ball from a strike or a NCAA CWS-worthy team from one that should be left out, but the organization itself likely does not have malice towards one team or another..... And it does allow for organizations where the impact of stupid decisions by stupid individuals can be felt. But that is just life.
(And that is how I sleep well at night, and don't need a tinfoil hat).
Go Beavers!
