Here's the link to the (very long) story, complete with quotes from Heimlich: www.si.com/mlb/2018/05/16/luke-heimlich-oregon-stateI think this national coverage with Luke's side of the story has to happen if his baseball career is going to continue past this year. It's in his best interest that the other side of the story is at least told, and the more publications that do so, the better for him.

"...has to happen if his baseball career is going to continue..." S.L. Price is a quality writer.

Great article by a great sportswriter that encapsulates my feelings, thinking on this topic.

i still say he would have been better off killing a man in cold blood with his bare hands just for the fun of it than what he is accused of. He'd be in the majors by now. It's a world.

by the way, so much of the speculation is whether he gets drafted. And if he doesnt? Does he come back for another year at OS?

So, Brenda Tracy expects us to believe her story, but not to believe Luke.

So, Brenda Tracy expects us to believe her story, but not to believe Luke. You know, when her story first broke, I felt really sorry for her. With her vendetta against Luke, I feel like she has made herself into a professional victim, and I’ve lost a lot of the sympathy I once had for her. I certainly don’t know whether Luke did or did not touch his niece. Only he and the niece know for sure. What I do know is that he did everything the State of Washington required him to do and that should be the end of it. I keep asking and nobody can answer, but why is conviction for a sex crime a lifetime sentence? He did his time and now he should be able to get on with his life without the likes of Brenda Tracy dogging his steps for the rest of his life.

I know in the eyes of many it is not relevant but there is no sex crime conviction. Luke entered a plea agreement which in essence was deversion. He met the terms of the agreement and the charges were dismissed.

You do realize that "legal wrangling and interpretation" is often what separates first-degree murder from killing in self-defense; what separates grand theft from petty larceny, and what separates first-degree assault from misdemeanor assault, etc?
"Legal wrangling and interpretation" is the cornerstone of the American judicial system, and what often helps protects the accused/innocent from an unjust outcome in court. It's not something to be trivialized.

Not bar room adjudicator, lay person with a strong opinion, or such. Otherwise, take it to the legal interpretion page.
