Shameful how the NYT quotes "The Oregonain" extensively, but ignores the Eggers story completely.

So Luke agrees to do an interview with the NYT? Sounds like he's still getting bad advice.

So Luke agrees to do an interview with the NYT? Sounds like he's still getting bad advice. It’s my take that the NYT interview is likely only a start of what LH will do / NEEDS to do if he is to have an MLB career. Granted, many Beaver fans - myself included - have come to terms with some very ugly actions that Luke may, or may not, have committed when he was 14-15. I believe he deserves all that his life going forward might provide. But the rest of the world (including many of the fans in the city of whatever MLB team might draft Luke) likely have not come to terms with it. They see him as a rapist, a pedophile, a molester, etc. The facts don’t matter to some of the many who haven’t taken a close look at this matter. I remember during the height of the Barry Bonds hate fest - in SF it was still a love fest. We now as Beaver fans share some similarities to that SF love fest. Luke needs to continue addressing this up front for the foreseeable future, and hopefully by the time he is in his late 20’s it will begin to recede. He himself, in the comments he made in June 2017, has acknowledged that he realizes it’s something he will need to live with for the rest of his life.

Got home from work and fired up the lap top, went to the home page and started scrolling through the top stories and saw a pic of Luke walking away down the left field foul area ( I think) and I couldn't believe it. Why now? There was a whole season and the powers that be pick now, a few weeks before the tournament. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The problem with your PR advice is it violates the basic rule...which is...when one is defending, they are losing.

Didn’t read it. There will be more , I’m sure. Again. If Beavs keep winning.
I believe Luke’s a good kid. There are things he now can control, and things he can’t. Concentrate on the things you can control.

When he moves from the relative security of a college campus/NCAA baseball, to the professional baseball work-a-day-world (like in about 8 weeks) it wouldn't be surprising if the NYT interview turns out to just a warmup. Suppose he's drafted in the 2nd or 3rd Round by the Cincy Reds, and by July he's playing for the Billings Mustangs (Pioneer League). Not only the Cincy newspaper beat writer(s), but the Billings Gazette sportswriting staff, will want interviews...and it's sorta likely the reporters will have questions about the "controversy". In the meantime - Go Beavs! Get at least 43-45 wins before 64 team field selection date >>> Regional...Super >>> and this time Luke GOES to Omaha with them!!!

No surprise, but not the little o this time. None of us should have thought this was going away for Luke. I’m surprised it hasn’t been uglier on the road for him. I know people who have given up on Beaver baseball and have lost respect for coach Casey because of this. Honestly, avid fans. There are STRONG feelings about this subject, especially among those who’ve suffered through something like this. Take a look at the statistics. It happens far too often. Much more often than those of us untouched by it want to admit. The little o will forever be on my s%#t-list for the timing of their piece last year. They knew exactly what they were doing.

One always has a choice as to how they respond. Luke addressed the issue, made his statement, and has every right to move on with his life without responding to every reporters every question. Once he made his statement, any additional comments are "new news" and just generates another news cycle.

This is only my impression, so take it for what it is worth, but I think more people than not have processed this and are moving forward. I was cringing at the start of the season, what I thought opposition fans were going to make out of all this, and it's been minimal from what I have seen and heard. We aren't the ones who have to live with this specific instance except tangentially. We and all involved will move forward with our lives and I pray that people can make peace with themselves and each other. We`re moving on with our lives.

Only Luke knows the truth. He did pass lie detector tests according the Tribune. I abhor the thought of pedophilia but cannot forget the horror that 43 Wenatchee citizens went through in the mid 90's. Some of them pled to charges on advice of attorneys.
