Abel hasn't thrown strikes consistently all year. Nate has had good success at OSU but it is his job to have someone ready in the bullpen so someone doesn't have to come in cold. Just like in last nights game when he should have brought in a righthander to face a right hander but instead left Chamberlain in and gave up a run. Coaches aren't infallible and are certainly making their share of errors this year along with the players.

If he issued say a walk instead of a second home run, then some time could have been bought giving Kevin time to warm up.

WHY why no bunt in b5 with runner on 1st and one out, which was close to DP. Next hitter Kwan hit for single could bring runner home from 2nd if for bunt play. So many bad decisions this season!!

HR or walk... there are tons on ways to kill time. Bring in a kid cold and he walks and gives up HR. Britton walks the same guy Abel does, Abel comes in warm, does he give up the HR? Not only are the pitchers not performing, but coaching staff is pressing the wrong buttons... consistently.

How do you kill time with the bases empty? Can't step off the mound and throw over 5 times.

Britton faints arm, ankle, etc soreness. Coach gets a freebie visit. Pitcher gets a couple tosses. Again Britton pitching to the next hitter with catcher visits during wasn't any worse than bringing in Abel cold. Not only is Abel not ready/cold, he's on tenuous ground with his confidence to begin with. You want to start putting him in positions to have success, not unprepared.

But I'd say Abel has built his confidence getting out of that bases loaded jam.

Yes, but problem was that the 2nd home run was the 7th guy in a row he went 2-0 on.....Abel should have been up earlier. Oh well.
