The Sweet Sixteen is not some sort of epic milestone - I can't even name all the teams in the sweet 16 in this year's men's tournament off the top of my head, and they all played less than a week ago. I'd say the football equivalent of the sweet 16 would be the third tier Pac-12 game - the Holiday Bowl. There are more than 320 teams playing college basketball. Making the field, and then winning twice to make the Sweet 16 is a very significant accomplishment. I do agree that he's compensated more than fairly. But equating the Holiday Bowl to the Sweet 16 is a bit of a reach, IMHO. Others may disagree.

If making the WBB Elite Eight is the equivalent of making the College World Series then Making the Sweet 16 is the equivalent of making a Super Regional in Baseball. More difficult actually since as noted above, there are 320 Div 1 WBB teams compared to 298 Div 1 Baseball teams.

The only caveat... 320 do not "really" have a chance to reach the tourney. How many D1 teams realistically vie for 64 spots? Holiday Bowl prob equals making the field of 64/68... sort of...

I'll make the same type of argument here with the raw #s... a far larger %of D1 baseball schools have a realistic chance to make the field than of the 320 D1 WBB schools. Not sure there is, or needs to be any equivalency made?
