become a PAC12 umpire? Last night (CSF game #1), my friend's 12 year old son knew immediately the foul ball liner wasn't fair simply because Gretler touched it.
Then, because this fraud of an umpire embarrassed himself with his obvious ignorance of the rules, he decided to take it out on the Beaver bench the rest of the game. Real maturity there...
Is the PAC saddled with this yahoo? Does the league really have to keep him and his thin skin around to make more blown calls?
Just imagine the guy behind home plate.....

Actually a very valid question!!! What are the requirements to become a umpire at this level? Maybe he just filled out a box top. Does the PAC 12 have an umpire in chief? Who assigns them? Curious as to how much they get paid. Where is this idiot from?

Is the schedule, or pool, work the same for Football? the umpires in the Pac 12 are independent contractors who can chose to work exclusively with the Pac 12 or work across multiple leagues. the leagues gives out assignments based on who's available week to week.

Mark Buchanan is the 3b ump that blew 3 major calls on Friday night, was yelling into the dugout and threw Pat Casey out of the game when he stepped out of the dugout - long before he ever arrived at 3b. Buchanan "claims" Casey and he touched bills when the already-ejected Casey confronted him over 3 calls that went against the Beavs. This contact resulted in a 4-game suspension of Coach Casey.
He blew an easy call at 2nd yesterday eliciting the previously mentioned reaction from the very passionate Mike Parker. Were his antics an over-reaction? Perhaps. But I've never seen so many really bad blown calls by one ump in a weekend and all against OSU. Neither has Parker and frankly I feel similarly outraged.
Mark Buchanan has officiated OSU games in the past years, particularly at Surprise and in Pac-12 games vs UW and others. He's not incompetent from what I've observed in the past so he's got some agenda in play. He's at 1b today so it bears watching.

Nicely played a little spittle helps to enforce your point too Or... just not get baited by an inferior umpire and person. PC allowed him to now "effect" his team long after he leaves Corvallis. The ump was wrong in many ways, but so was PC. As for Mike Parker... he's a terribly reactive "fan" and at times embarrassing as a representative of OSU. If a similar employee of another school acted like MP folks on this board would be all over them. Whether in the booth or not he is an employee of OSU and has been reprimanded on both his on air and outside comments.
