He led the Blazers to an NBA title, he can do no wrong by me - what's that? Wait, let me take out my ear plugs so I can hear you.....

Bill and Ted Robinson? Robinson is a pro all the way..... and Walton....well, he's hilarious......basketball is fun, but I for one love Bill's side stories and diversions.....read his book to better understand the guy......you'll gain a new found respect.

If only Walton and Cosell could be working together...

I haven't read the book but, even if I had, can't I respect a guy without wanting him to be a constant distraction during a game I actually care about? He's not a game announcer. He's a distraction. Maybe they can offer him on a separate audio channel, for those fans who don't care to hear about what's actually happening on the floor.

I love Bill Walton, he cracks me up. I sorta tune out what he's saying. At least it's just him rambling, I hate when announcers bring up the back story of every player, etc. Pure game sounds would be choice #1 since I'll never get that Walton is choice #2 over the other announcers.

I am in the Mike84 camp.......while the 60s were clearly very good to Bill Walton, I don't tune into a Beaver basketball game for some guy to just "free associate" the whole game. Hmmmmm - though he did mention a book about the experiences in New Zealand of a 30 year old woman biking around the world while the game was all tied up with under a minute to go that I want to buy and read now.... (I think I just made my point - I didn't tune into the Beaver game to have him provide a completely unrelated book review). Lamar Hurd is one of the most insightful basketball commentators I have ever listened too, and I don't say that because he was a Beaver...... Go Beavers!

First... BW is fine... but you Rach their own. There'd be less announcer free lancing I'd there was any basketball being played. It was pretty ugly.
Second... scanned the posts so could habe missed it? But, in all the BW biotching no one calls him out on his saying Sitton being from Wilsonville?? 😁

Bill Walton is the best. His random stories are hilarious and makes the watching the game even better. No one loves the PAC 12 more than Bill Walton, he's a breath of fresh air in the boring east coast biased sports media world.

No. Didn't listen. Did he talk about cycling the entire Oregon coast? That is like an evergreen story. Fits any occasion. I enjoy BW

You guys can not like him, whatever, but I agree with this post....we are so inundated by east coast crap; refreshing to hear someone talk up the PAC 12- the 'conference of champions', lol.....even if it's to hyperbole; I love when he talks about there being no truck stops in the Pac 12, and the bs of all these little no-name east coast schools making the tourney cause they won their half ass conferences....

Waltonisms from last night:
- The great Charlie Sitton, from little Wilsonville Oregon.. - Drew Eubanks gets another fish for his tank! - You ever been in a Maori war dance? - Drew is a MAN AMONG MIDGETS - Alfred Hollins is no relation to the great Lionel Hollins. - Oregon State needs more players like Gary Payton, Brent Barry, Dave Gambee and Jose Ortiz!! - Something about the great Mike Parker and a song lyric... - Many, many things about Mike Hopkins. - Maybe my favorite, as we go to overtime: "The fate of the world is in the known balance."

To each his own. Bill Walton is awful. Didn't like his constant political blathering in the dead fish wrapper back in the '70's (shut up and dribble) - don't care for him now. I really could give a rat's ass what his political views are. I listened to him announcing a Trailblazer game recently, he couldn't wait to trash the Blazers at every step of the way during the game, even though he won an NBA title with the team. Heard from a family member of mine that he had some of the fans behind the announcer's table angry and in tears it was so bad. Made references to Portlanders being basically red-necked hicks that needed more beer. It was awful. No fan of the city of Portland these days, but even Portland deserves better than Bill Walton. All of you on here can continue with your bromance with the guy, I can't stand him. Oh, and by the way, he can blame the team doctor all he wants for his season/career ending injury while in Portland, it was still his choice to play injured - and he wanted to at the time. Then, he comes back and blames the team, as they should have supposedly restrained him and barred him from playing. Riiiigggght.

Strikes me as being un-American (anti-First Amendment). It also directly contradicts your opening sentence "To each his own" How would any of us feel if an aspect of our employment became a defining limitation on our humanity? For instance if you are a grocery store clerk by occupation, and you express a political opinion to someone at the tavern after work, would an appropriate response be "shut up and ring up those prices"? Nope.
