411500 said: "On the other hand, neither player is making much of a splash against high school competition." Fair enough, but this article hinted at PM's potential: "Morris started slow and missed some layups and free throws, but did have some very impressive blocked shots. She ended up with a triple-double, with 11 points, 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds..." I appreciate the concern however - we are (for whatever reason) not hearing of complete domination by either AA or PM this season......I will also observe that Duarte doesn't seem to have a ton of news outlets, and HS WBB may not be a big deal in the local community. Go Beavers!

2ndGenBeaver - -the article you posted is from 3 years ago....Which, in a way, summarizes effectively what I was getting at in an earlier post. POTENTIAL. 3 years ago PM draws rave reviews for her potential. 3 years have since come and gone. We are still talking about her potential.
This isn't a knock on PM - I haven't seen her play, so I'm in the dark. I'm not bad mouthing any kid Coach believes in. He obviously believes in her, but, thus far, she hasn't done much on the court to make one think she is a future PAC 12 impact player.
Once again: Impact players do not come out of the blue. Take a minute to go thru the list of PAC 12 all stars this season - you will be hard pressed to find a single athlete who was not a h.s. super star. Like I say, this really adds to the mystery of what OSU is getting when these two highly anticipated players arrive on campus.... And: what OSU will be getting after they have been in the program two years? (Now that's a thought that makes me smile.) GO BEAVS!!

Is this what you want to hear about PM? She has never lost a league game. Not in four years. Said Duarte coach Beverly Ball-Powell. “Our offense revolves around Patricia. When she’s successful, we’re successful. When she’s not, we’re not." Here are the write-ups of their two playoff games - a win and a loss. signalscv.com/2018/02/hart-girls-hoops-falls-duarte-playoffs-2nd-straight-year/“She’s a tough assignment,” said Hart coach Terra Palmer of Morris. “Our intention was if she was around the rim, we were going to double down on her and let their kids make plays. “For the most part, I think our kids did exactly what we wanted them to do.” And yet they lost, having held PM to a mere 24 points. santamariatimes.com/sports/high-school/basketball/cif-ss-playoffs-righetti-girls-roll-past-duarte/article_a88af5a0-be90-5ef3-a935-c4a217db13e8.html“We wanted to front their post,” said Hitch. “We wanted to put as much pressure on No. 32 (Morris) as we could. If she didn’t have the ball, they couldn’t score." “The press was our game plan,” said Hitch. “If they couldn’t get the ball past midcourt, they can’t score. I had the girls focus on the press. When they did get into their front court, they were low on time and had to rush their shots.” It worked - they won easily. PM was held to a mere 19, but nearly half of that was from the foul line after the game was effectively over.

No argument, but she must be oozing potential for this to happen: [from: duartebasketball.weebly.com/falcon-program-news.html ]: "Patricia Morris has had schools like USC, UNLV, Kansas State, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona, Baylor, Texas A&M, UC San Diego, Loyola Marymount and a host of other schools lobbying hard for her services as a collegiate player over the past few years. Her first attention from schools coming as early as 8th grade." Now granted, I think PM was 6'5" in the eighth grade, so it doesn't take incredible insight to offer at that point..... To your point, we are all just really intrigued for these "high-profile, under the radar" (I know, somewhat contradictory) players to get here and go all Ruth Hamblin/Marie Gulich on the the Pac-12....... Go Beavers!

I see from MaxPreps: "The Ribet Academy (Los Angeles, CA) varsity basketball team won Wednesday's home playoff game against La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, CA) by a score of 56-35."
No box score, so don't know how many of those 3s AA hit......
Go Beavers!

Jazz Simmons video again for those who haven't seen it, from July 2016, so she'll have 2 more years of experience when we see her this summer. She's a better ballhandler and passer than Pivec, though she may not surpass Pivec's rebounding skill. She, along with Destiny, has something that was lacking this year: Great speed and an ability to attack the basket. Given her high-level experience for Australia, I suspect she'll get up to speed real fast and be a contributor this year.

In wandering around the Maxprep website (horribly organized) I can across AA's stats vs St. Mary's, nationally 4th ranked team. 11 pts, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks. I will be interesting to see where SR plays her.

Here's the write-up. DeCosta had 21 pts, 9 rebs, 4 blocks, 4 steals. She "was the epitome of the modern forward – fast, unpredictable (in a good way) and able to run the floor with guards." Andrea had 11 pts, 14 rebs, and 3 blocks. She "was 6-9". And that's the news from Stockton . . . www.recordnet.com/sports/20180115/rams-roll-at-6th-annual-mlk-showcase

I will be interesting to see where SR plays her. That was the very video I wanted to review. I still haven't done it and will get back when I do. What I do remember is that Acquira had both of the other Ribet Centers either in foul trouble and fouled them out. She ate them alive. But when it can to AA she she did not generally challenge her inside but rather played as a true Wing. That is one reason I stated that AA was better than the other Centers on Ribet.

Pivecs problem is not so much her passing and ball handling skills, but her BBIQ and decision making.
