Unfortunately a new center scoreboard is far from what is needed to bring Gill into the 21st century. And, unless the boards now are on their last legs and not feasible to repair, it is not a great use of $ as far as Gill is concerned. It certainly will not make the fan experience as far as access and comfort any better. But, whatever floats their boat to make people believe they are "investing" in the physical plant.

They need to replace all the existing seats and install nice new seating. That might reduce capacity but so what. Also, they need to install hand rails up the aisles. I watch older folks really struggle to get up the steps. Gill, can be really nice if they keep updating it. No need for a new arena.

I’ll let Barnes know that you want recliners for seats so that you are “comfortable”

This gets old. Someone reports some good news, and immediately baseba1111 starts bitching. Just ignore him, people.

God Bless Scott Rueck for what he's done with just a schoolyard court and chains for nets.

Hmm.... Bringing gill into the 21st century has got me thinking, why not just let the beavers wrestling, volleyball teams and gymnastics use gill and build a brand new state of the art 21st century basketball stadium for men's and women's basketball team? This is purely just a hypothetical thought of course. But couldn't hurt to think of it if Gill is never referbished and updated to 21st century Stadium standards.

Seems to be what your post is all about... and you didn't follow your own advice... just ignore the post! But, stating a scoreboard is the least of the issues isn't bitching, it's basic common sense fact. Score boards are pomp and circumstance and has zero to do with the the comfort and safety of the venue. I find it funny people like you would be all over would be all over this if were a uck scoreboard vs safer... steps, aisles... etc. Yep... keep ignoring. 😁

Going to be great to finally enter the 21st century in that regard. Awesome. It was clear when they rearranged the speakers, it was with the intent of installing a center video/scoreboard. It'll be great for all sports that play in Gill. Volleyball, Gymnastics, Wrestling as well as MBB and WBB. Probably won't cost any money to speak of as these are typically almost completely subsidized by advertising. I hope it is similar in design to the one at the Huskies Arena (oldest arena in the conference) Redoing the ancient lighting system is also long overdue.

I watch older folks really struggle to get up the steps. Gill, can be really nice if they keep updating it. No need for a new arena. I hear what you said about getting up and down the steps. The problem they have is if they do anything major with the steps they have to conform to existing building codes. The steps as they exist, don't conform to rise and run dimensions, and I don't see any way to bring them up to code because of the steepness of the seating areas. As far as hand rails go I agree they are needed big time. I recently gave them an idea of how they could design and install them but it would cost a ton of money. They can't put a rail up the center of the steps because they aren't wide enough. They could possibly widen them if they could get around the code issue. I can't believe that as youths, we used to go over to Gill and run those stairs from bottom to top and back to stay in shape in the winter. I won't go more than a few rows above the lower balcony now and have been sitting on the floor or lower balcony in the past few years.
