They just have no one to go through. Not to, but through. Someone to either score/draw a foul or draw attention and dish to an open shot. And not just down the stretch but to break up runs. I'd like to see Drew be that guy. Many would argue you can't teach that but I think you can. It's called player development.

Daddy called on tres to be a superhero rather than getting the hot hand Stevie the ball. You do get that Tres got the rebound and there was only 6 seconds left and no Timeouts left and had to take the ball the length of the court, right? not like they had time to set up a ball screen and set up Thompson Jr. or someone else with a wide open look.. plus Tres had a decent look and he's a player that can make that shot

Considering the success Stevie has had with late-game heroics I don't really see that as a problem with this team. Ethan probably should sit more although did not have a terrible game this time. He is young and should improve. I don't think this is a moral victory; it's a loss the Beavers let slip away. However this team shows major, major improvement over last season and will win more conference games.

Wow, did I watch the game? really?
Let's wait until the end of the season and see if we are even at .500. I understand loyalty and seeing all things orange, but for those of you enjoying the moral victory of losing two on the road that we had leads late in the game......I am glad you don't work for me. But again, you are indicative of the sports culture at OSU with two sports exceptions.

But... we didn't pull out a split! The same thing that will effect us the rest of the season. Poor development of depth and getting kids rest.
We "died" the last 7-8 min. ASU had multiple players get to the rim at will. Besides one three it was a layin/dunk drill. Teams don't go 8-8 the last 2 min vs decent D. The zone was abandoned on several possessions and it was a huge mistake.
The same thing hurt vs Utah late and Zona. Strange or non existent substitution patterns. Brief blows before and after scheduled TOs are not utilized. If you have no depth there still needs to be staggered substitutions and key players kept as fresh as possible.
The kids are playing their arse off. I don't feel they are being helped in several ways.

Stevie ran right down the middle while Tres was dribbling... wide open at the top of the circle. Not only that Tres had a guy in his hip at the 3 pt line before slowing. Didn't need a three. Thought he had time to penetrate or kick for better shot. Either way, that wasn't the loss. A completely exhausted team and no defensive stops the last 4 min was.

Don’t necessarily disagree that we should have won. Just not in to going 100% negative like you and cbeavs. There were positives. Need to build on them and get that one big win. More will follow. If they don’t, the time to move on from Tinkle may be here.

The low guys in the zone started getting sucked up to the free throw line and ASU just blew past them to the rim. Should have actually switched to man D when the dooshdevils had their run. Do anything to change things up.

Let's celebrate the moral victory. Yippeeee. Sorry tinkle is in year 4 competitive but still losing games any good coach would win. OSU had lost 14 straight road games coming into this trip.. they were playing 2 TOP 20 teams on the road.. ask yourself honestly what were your expectations?.. did you realistically think they were going to win either game?.. Its easy in hindsight after watching 2 games where they had chances to win to question moral victories and being competitive as good things

We all have different expectations some are low some are even lower. Tinkle is not at good coach.

Who the eff cares what fan expectations are. There were two road games to be had. Don't give an eff if top 20 or bottom 40. The games were played, OSU controlled both games with D and tempo. The opponent doesn't excuse losing games because of very correctable errors... especially by coaches who've grossly under developed the bench and over played the starters. Not splitting is a direct reflection on the coaching staff, not the out manned squad. The extended amount of minutes is wearing on the players. Drew was basically invisible when you want a go to big at the end of games. This weekend wasn't about rankings, it was all about wasted opportunities.

Do we need to wait another 25 years and lots of excuses later before we expect to win road games? ugh

It's no surprise to me that a struggling 4 star recruit left Tinkles team. If you don't start and struggle the few times you are in you will never get any time again regardless of how tres and the Thompson brothers are playing or whether they simply need rest. What's Wayne going to do when he can't recruit a coaches son. Credit him for going to the zone and giving the team a better chance to be in games, but offensively, well he has shown that he does not know what he's doing, no ball moverment, too much dribbling , forced passes, lowest scoring team in conference play. He has some talent on the bench, not great, but with some more time they could be serviceable. We will never know.
