After what she did today, she needs her own catch phrase. Help me out. Her FG%, rebounds and block shots were good but it was her command of the paint and especially her hand strength that caught my attention. This girl turned the page right before our eyes today.
GO BEAVS

This year's version of Marie Gulich is definitely more mobile, faster free throw line to FTL, and her left hand seems a bit improved. Amazingly, I think she has had as many breakaway layups as any of the guards so far this year. That is amazing for a 6'5" center....I have not seen her equal in the post this season, and I have watched every PAC team at least twice.

And she feasted on the Cougars last year: Set career highs with 27 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks against Washington State.... I don't know if the Cougars have upgraded their center position from last season, otherwise we should pick up where we left off in the second half of the Husky game.
Go Beavers!

The Cougs play better against "system" teams (like the Beavs) than against talented free-wheelin' teams like the Ducks & UCLA....If their top Euro player is on the floor Sunday morning the Beavs will have their hands full. We won't see the frenetic, pressing coverage from the Cougs that the undermanned Huskies deployed... So it should be a great game.....GO BEAVS....

wsu played very rough against the *ucks last night. It seems that the less talented the team is more physical they have to play to be competitive.

I would guess that most coaches would pretty much consider that an axiom of competitive basketball... Increased physicality doesn't always yield the hoped for results, however, because less talented teams also tend to be less physical, have less foot speed, and less overall athleticism than talented teams.... But tough physicality, properly delivered, is a great talent neutralizer.... At least that's how I see it.....

She is the Teutonic Tower of Power. This is such a winner there is a chicken dinner involved.

She's really improved. Great job by her and the coaching staff! I remember thinking it might be rough when Hamblin graduated but Gulich has taken her game to a whole other level. It's been fun to watch!

I'm thinking Das Hammer. Which in German slang means doing something awesome.

I'm thinking Das Hammer. Which in German slang means doing something awesome. In German language, there are three definite articles for nouns in singular: der for masculine nouns, die for feminine nouns and das neutral nouns. In the German slang "Der hammer" is common. But since that is the masculine form, I would propose Die Hammer would be more appropriate. (Die, pronounced the way we pronounce "dee" in English.) Although my favorite is "Fear the ümlaut!"

The squad needs to continue to "Feed the Germ" (as Sydney liked to say) to be successful this season. Gulich has done virtually everything that has been asked or required from her so far this season.
