Iowa didn't have a QB in this class and only 4 on the roster - I guess Spence didn't want to compete for playing time... Also, I suspect we will be acquiring the services of a grad transfer QB (from uDub) next year... Good luck to him...

It's hard to compete when you're recruiting against Heaven.

That really sucks. That kid really looked good on Tape. With our new Staff I thought we were looking at the next Beav NFL QB.

This is a strange one. OSU actually got more aligned with his style and development when they hired Smith. I never really understood what the kid saw in CGA but was glad he committed anyway. I would understand if he flipped to a school that throws the ball all over the field and develops NFL QBs, but Iowa just seems like such a random place. I hope he has some warm clothes.

I think it's a big mistake for flipped. CJS and MR won't be around to teach him how to prepare for NFL. If he wants to play on Sundays, why Iowa?
Now hope for a grad-transfer QB from Neb or UW.

in the 4 years that Petras has been in high school:
School #1: 33 wins, 4 bowl appearances (1 Rose Bowl appearance), 1 coach last 18 years
School #2: 12 wins, 0 bowl appearances, 3rd head coach in 5 years.
Tough to compete with all of that.. we've got a ton of work to do. Don't really blame him at all.

CJ Beathard was a 3rd round pick out of Iowa last year and started a few games for the 49ers before they traded for Garoppalo. Ricki Stanzi was drafted in the 5th round by KC in 2012. Ironically Iowa is currently using Nathan Stanley at QB, a guy who grew up dreaming of playing for Wisconsin that Gary Andersen showed no interest in recruiting while there, allowing Iowa to steal him. Now Iowa steals a guy Gary did want from us. The lesson, as always: Blame Gary.

Iowa is not heaven, try living there. But Iowa does have good pheasant hunting and then there is (scratches head) good pheasant hunting.

Let's be honest. Who doesn't like fresh thick sliced bacon? Other than super hot "hosts" to "show you around" on a recruiting visit, I've gotta think bacon would be the next best sales tool.
