SAD state of MBB continues. no point guard situation gets even worse. DOES ANY OF THIS STUFF SURPRISE ANYONE? I stick by my post of a week or so ago. I have never seen a team in OSU orange and black with this much talent be so poorly coached. I suggest that the football program is finally going in the right direction. We need the MBB program to do that same. First point of business is get rid of Tinkle at seasons end...

Wow. One sign of a bad program. A (95%) starter just...leaves. Maybe Tinkle has lost this team. I don't know. If OSU fires the big guy, we would probably say goodbye to Tres and the young Thompson kid, Ethan...who LOOKS like a player. How in hell did this train-wreck get started? Is there some INHERENT issue at OSU (since Ralph) that prohibits a stable, successful basketball program? As Vince Lombardi would ask, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOIN' ON AROUND HERE?"

His leaving looks connected to academic issues......not all kids are cut out to be student-athletes.

Not WT.......check JRoc statement.......he stated he wasn't cut out to be a student-athlete. if you're not happy with Tinkle so be it butyou still can't put words in his mouth.

Not if Stephen Sr stays... Rupp as HC and ST Sr gets us 17 Ws this year... Ok... maybe next if we get a JC PG

Amy Schwartz @theamyschwartz Follow Follow @theamyschwartz More JaQuori McLaughlin on leaving @beavermbb “Being a student-athlete is a lot of work and there are some challenges that I’ve been faced with that have impacted me and kept me from being able to compete to the best of my ability in a way that would help my team win games." 4:07 PM - 1 Dec 2017 Definitely sounds non-basketball related

Agree, sounds like a guy who wasn't long for the season and knew it (and played like it).
CR recruit that WT was able to convince to still come to OSU, and thought it was a coup that WT retained him (remember Romar wanted him after he reopened his commit). I can't think of a worse fadeout in OSU basketball when it comes to rating coming in.

I'm not buying that - he'd have taken another job after last season if that were the case.

Lol If teaching isn't reinforced with the discipline to actually have to perform those skills there isn't any learning taking place. This team/program doesn't show any signs of discipline, hence no signs of improving fundamentals even though one of the assistants is a great teacher of the game. Unfortunately the guy who decides the PT doesn't seem to fathom what's wrong. So, WT may not be "preventing", but he's certainly not fostering their development.

OSU doesn't reel in enough 4 stars to not have them be major contributors.

Tinkle: " Like all of the programs at Oregon State, we hold our student-athletes to a high level of expectations on the court, off the court and in the classroom," Wayne Tinkle said in the OSU release. "Unfortunately sometimes that can be too much to ask for. JaQuori is a great kid with a tremendous heart and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."I'm not sure you can say it is all academics. But you can say for certain Tinkle threw him under the bus. The last sentence is all we needed to hear from Tinkle. JaQuori can speak for himself on the other issues since he is no longer on the team and Tinkle is no longer his coach.

That's "throwing him under the bus"? You have to read that with a hell of a lot of prejudice against Tinkle to get anything out of that other than, "He's a good kid but got in over his head."

The right thing to say: "He's a good kid" Throwing under the bus: "but got in over his head" No need to toss negative comments towards a student-athlete who is moving on. How would you like a reference from a former employer which said you were "a nice person but you were over your head"?
