Sure, everyone benefits when coaches and bosses just spout how wonderful everyone and everything is, without the slightest nod towards reality.

The people that need to know, do. His comments were classless and inappropriate for a public comment on a departing player. And the same for any "boss". If you really wanted to dig up "crap" potential meaning it could be much worse, and WT left it open to be easily interpreted negatively. WT is the leader of the program and I'm assuming knows better. He almost sounds as if he was trying to head off future criticism by JQ. For all we know JM is flunking out, didn't want to leave. No matter the reason, a simple "good bye, wish him luck wherever he lands" was all that was needed. WT's comment says more about him and the departure than JaQuori the young man.

I must have been watching the wrong OSU basketball program all season - The Beaver MBB team I have been watching hasn't had a pg all year - I would guess that JaQuori has more turnovers + fouls than assists + points for his career while receiving a free education at THE OSU - I'm not buying the coaching theory - Missed wide open shots is not coaching - i wish JaQuori the best, but would have no problem opening the door for him on his way out

I just hope that when the time comes that Tinkle is released from his duties that Barnes talks about bringing him here to create a winning program before saying "Unfortunately sometimes that can be too much to ask for"

I don't see anything wrong with what WT said..plus none of us actually know what may or may not have happened

That's "throwing him under the bus"? You have to read that with a hell of a lot of prejudice against Tinkle to get anything out of that other than, "He's a good kid but got in over his head." It takes one hell of a Beaver apologist to read that and not think it was an unnecessary dig. He could have shown a lot more grace in his public comment on this matter. That's just more of the "everyone gets a trophy crowd"! Not classless or even close, need to have a real boner for WT to get that lean. Gawd, we are all so dam sensitive aren't we?? JM was and is a great kid, he'll be fine, give him some cred for knowing what to do in this situation. We all get that some want WT's head, and want it now, as in, right now. Fine, do you really want another run of the football season?

I'd like to thank JaQouri for stepping up last year when he should have been learning the college game. I wish him all the best and hope he finds his path.

Maybe - but if the kid flunked out of underwater basketweaving courses with tutors holding his hands, he flat wasn't trying/didn't care about being a student athlete. I'd be plenty frustrated myself in WT's shoes. Or maybe he thought he could take on 30 credits of engineering courses last quarter and WT's comments were spot on? Whatever the case, he sure hasn't been the answer to the PG position we've had almost perpetually since GP Sr was here.

Agree... but, WT is the professional and JaQuori's failings... athletically or academically... are not for a coach to pile on (even insinuating) in a public forum. And, bottom line, WT recruited him and was the one responsible for JaQuori's athletic development... double edge sword.

It's weird to think the Beav coaches were so clueless about JQ's academic status they actually had him in in the starting lineup. I thought coaches kept a close eye on these things? Any way, i wish the player to have success in his future path. It's too early to write him off as a player. Maybe he can find his niche elsewhere. For the beavs, they probably will have a better rotation now because they KNOW they dont have a point guard who can beat the press on the dribble. Hey guys the fastest way to move the ball up the court is to pass it.

JQ was Not a point guard. the team did not have one when he was here and don't have one now. we know he was spectacularly unsuited to play point guard, but technically that was his position. This also means the beavs didn't recruit or were unable to recruit another point guard because apparently the position was locked up. Doh!!!

That's "throwing him under the bus"? You have to read that with a hell of a lot of prejudice against Tinkle to get anything out of that other than, "He's a good kid but got in over his head." It seems clear that a lot of you want to throw Tinkle under the bus. I find very little in his statement to get my panties in a twist. I’d be frustrated as a coach to lose a player at this point particularly if its academics. I hope JM finds success in the future but at this point he's never shown the kind of game that matches the hype he had coming in. He played like a 2 guard with a mostly inconsistent outside shot who didnt seem to have particularly great distribution skills either. Maybe he’ll develope at some point, but maybe he’s just not as good as the star system implied. Shocker. Some kids take a while to transition from high school to college, and some never do. And maybe he just wasn’t ready for college. I’m not ready to give up on Tinkle. 2 of his 3 years have been fun. This year has a long way to unfold. I’m not super surprised we’ve been inconsistent at this point. I actually think we’ve played a bit better with other guys in the lineup. I never thought Stacy would look like a player but apparently he’s made a jump this year. I’m sure that has nothing to do with coaching since Tinkle and staff are so obviously incompetent.
