Heyward, Bray and DeVan ALL need to come home!!! And how's this for an outside the box OC.... BEAU BALDWIN Save some money by only paying JS 1.8 million a year or so and have plenty of money to pry away great coordinators... Think Beau would say no to getting out of the bay area and 1-1.2 mil a year??? JS reportedly has signed a 5 year deal. I imagine it is market competitive. I would not be surprise to see it 2-2.5 million a year. that is just the going rate. I would hope it begins at 1.7, has lots of bonus opportunities so he could in theory make three, and that there have been assurances for extra money for qualified staff above what OSU has tradtionally paid.

I figure if Coach Smith wants to hire the best defensive coordinator he knows, we could be seeing Banker come back.

No need to pry, Wisconsin coaches have been known to take a pay cut to come here! What Wisconsin coaches have taken a pay cut to come here? Looks like I was wrong on the pay cut thing... still, it wasn't like we had to pry our last Wisconsin hire.

Market value is partly derived from HC experience and proven success. $1.3-1.7mil with academic and win bonuses is plenty a to allow a great DC and OC. Also a low buyout if fired, and high if he leaves. When the wins and attendance come admin can always revisit. He's not a proven commodity by any measure for a first time HC at a P5 job.

I love the idea of the bonus opportunities. Start out at a basic 1 million with tons of bonuses for academic achievements as well as athletic achievements that could push it well over 2 million or even 3 million if he grabs a brass ring. Edit: Dam, bba1111 beat me to it. Should I be worried that we had the same kind of thoughts?

Since we are having some fun here guessing, how about some more former OSU players on the staff? Keith Hayward -DC Cookus (safeties coach) Weathersby (CB Coach) Nick Barnett (LB Coach Stephen Paia (DL Coach)
? (OC) Derek Anderson/ (QB Coach) Steven Jackson (RB Coach) James Rodgers (WR Coach) Tim Euhus (TE Coach) Kyle DeVan (OL Coach)
Mike Riley - Special Teams Coach (We are just having fun here right???) ( My initial thought was Hekker but he isn't leaving the NFL anytime soon) Dennis Erickson (Special Advisor to HC)

If we got SJ as the RB coach, we would be getting a heck of a lot more than a former OSU and NFL great, we would be getting an extremely fine and intelligent human being. Given the rebuilding task at hand, anyone who can keep the players on point when the L's pile up (SJ never was on a Super Bowl contender but still excelled) has immense value.

I think getting SJ as a coach would be great from the nostalgia point of view. Who knows if he can coach. Any chance we can game the system for another year of eligibility from him?

Heck, If anything, put him on the team as a scout team player. It'd be sort of like the wrench throwing secne in dodgeball.
