Wait.... so did Baldwin turn us down??? False Start. Twitter (Football Scoop), 5 yard penalty, repeat 1st down. Then everyone else ran with the Football Scoop incorrect scoop.

At first I thought this was a fake coaching profile... Hey wpheiny we found your doppelganger! Seriously... Just hire Baldwin and get it over with, I am getting more and more worried that we can't even get him now...

Huh. Interesting recruiting area. California (San Diego County, Imperial County), Arizona (Central, North, East, West), Georgia (North), Idaho, Utah. But only North Georgia. "Hey Coach Shaw, I'm in Atlanta, but there's a kid in Savannah that is supposedly lights out! Should I head down there to check him out? I hear he's interested in Stanford." Shaw: "No, Lance. That's another coach's recruiting ground, so head back to Palo Alto."
Also, maybe I'm out of touch, but I haven't really heard of any of the notable players he's coached. Could just be me. Given the two, I would pick Baldwin.

My fear (totally unfounded) is that Baldwin has been told we will be in touch and is sitting at home scrolling twitter seeing Tedford said no, Anderson is a viable candidate, etc. and is like "you know I don't want to be anyone's fourth or fifth choice" and decides to tell us thanks but no thanks.

I don't know why that would be his attitude. Sounds like a normal hiring process. We interview 5-6 candidates and choose the one who impresses us the most. Even if someone blows your socks off in an interview, you are still gonna interview the remaining people on your list.

If he could somehow bring Solomon Thomas and plug him in for 4 years on the d-line, maybe I'd be a little more receptive to Lance Anderson - but I think it doesn't work that way. Really though, we should just stay away from any and all Andersen/sons for a few more minutes. Just because.

Doesn't scream "blue chip hire" to me... I hope this is all just finalization time for the Baldwin hire. Hate to say it, but I’m guessing that there are no experienced Power 5 guys who are the least interested right now, and probably no self-respecting D1 HCs of note in general. I sure hope that Beau doesn’t say, “no thanks” as well after this circus and the total dumpster fire finale on Saturday. I’ve always been happy about the idea of getting Baldwin as our next coach. He is a good and innovative coach who wants to be here. If the Coug job comes open, I fear we could lose him to WSU. Maybe all that’s left is for the ink to dry on the details, but if we’re talking about getting relegated to perusing assistant coaches (and defensive ones at that) whom we have never even heard of, we could be in serious trouble. I wonder if that search firm gives discounts to clients who can’t fill their vacancies with any legitimate candidate? I want to believe in the people in charge of this event (don’t think I’ll be able to use the word “process” again for a while...it kind of provokes PTSD symptoms for me) but for some reason I’m struggling to find the proper level of confidence in them given what has happened over the last 36 months.

I was thinking it said Thomas Soloman. My bad.
