Official visitors asked to visit first week of December, my guess is they got their guy picked/hired and the new coach wants to meet the recruits. Who do you think they picked? I'm going with Miles or Baldwin. Eggers said Miles is out, but I'm not too sure about that.

I agree that the hire is already made. As for my hunch. I go with Baldwin and don't think Miles is even a possibility. I was gonna say my long shot was Lane Kiffin but he'll be playing a game the first week of December so I'm just gonna say its Baldwin with about 80% certainty.

That seems strange that the hire has already been made almost a week before the job opening is supposed to close.

I think our next coach is either Baldwin or Alex Grinch. Gut feeling, nothing more.

Florida Atlantic's last scheduled game is November 25, at Charlotte. The CUSA championship is the weekend of December 10. FAU may have already clinched a spot.

My guess is that they have finalists and they are planning on finalizing who they are picking the last week of November, unless it is someone who doesn't currently have a job. I'm glad they are planning on having a HC as soon as the season is over.

Okay, but Kiffen wouldn't officially take the OSU job prior to the CUSA title game so as I said, eliminates him as my long shot.

I believe Kiffin accepted the FAU job before Alabama’s National championship game. He didn’t work that game either for Alabama. I feel like there would be no problem accepting the OSU gig prior to a conference championship. I’d be happy with this hire, but I think it’s highly unlikely.

Yes, coaches leaving before Bowl games are quite common (its what most coaches do). Coaches leaving before conference championship games is quite uncommon (I can't think of a single example of it happening).

I understand that recruiting hangs in the balance and all but if the school is going to be able to talk to a good majority of candidates, wait till season's end (my opinion). Hiring this early sends the message that they are desperate and can only hire from the pool of current available candidates. So in other words, if someone is coaching another team that is interested and they don't have a bye week to get away, we miss out on them. Not sure we get the best guy with that approach?!

If the hire is already made, I would love to not only know who it is but who else they talked to. that could be very telling how invested they (the school admin) are in the football program. Go Beavs!

Go Beavs! Unfortunately the who they talked to info probably shouldn't come out from this end, so it probably won't come out in totality. I suspect there were/are a number of coaches working and under contract who want to stay that way unless a move is a done deal.

I am pretty sure the reason you don't see coaches leave in that situation is that their contracts don't let them. Conference title games are part of the regular season. But whatever, I guess he could do something literally no coach has ever done.
