could be scary! This team, has a good core and could develop with some solid recruiting at some other key positions. If this team that is here now, is all healthy, it's a pretty solid group. Both sides of the LOS need to be beefed up. The secondary needs some depth (couple JUCOs and some solid freshmen to play or RS). The QB position will depend on who comes in as the HC as far as what direction they go on offense.
Here are my concerns:
* The new staff comes in and guys like Telly Lockette get replaced. He is a key Florida recruiter and has some good ties with players currently on the team. Peirce, S Smith, Jay Irvine. It would suck to lose any of those guys, especially Peirce.
*Any grad transfers or players just wanting to transfer out. The only guy I would think could leave for the NFL would be Nall.
*For some of these guys, this will be the third staff they have seen coming in. That's a lot of change in a collegiate career. How do they react?
*Although I did not like Hall's recent comments about the defensive coaches where he made some indirect comments basically talking about their inability to make adjustments (although I agree with it). As the HC it's ridiculous to make comments like this when you are in control and essentially it falls on you if it's not getting done....anyway, I still think it would be good for him to be one of the held over/retained coaches from this current staff. This might keep some players on the fence of transferring? Will he be retained?
Attrition happens every year but this could be an exceptionally large group to leave if things don't line up properly. Adding to this group could make these transition a lot smoother. If key guys leave, this could be another long term rebuild and no matter who comes in, it will be a rough 4-5 seasons possibly?
Go Beavs!

I'd like to know if Tyner is going to be able to return next season. If Nall does indeed go to the draft, having a Tyner/AP backfield would be a bright spot, regardless of what else happens.

Players who want to be here will stay. Those that don't will leave. I'm sure the new head coach won't want to work with players who do not want to be here. If somebody doesn't want to be here, then, thanks for your service, and good luck elsewhere.

Hall is NOT an NFL player yet. I don't know why so many Beaver fans are think he might go pro. Very unlikely to even get drafted if he did leave.

Considering “Hall” already retired from the NFL, I would agree with you.
I question anyone who says this team has a “good core”. There is very little talent right now.

Tyner has been my favorite player this year (well, he and Hodgins). Every time he touches the ball he runs angry. Give him another year of good health and he could be a terror next season. Even semi- recovered from the medical retirement, he can explode. He was a great high school player, a really solid collegiate back early who fought injuries and the talent of Royce Freeman, and he’s got next- level ability, especially if he gets back to optimium playing shape in the off-season. Can you imagine the feel-good story it would be if he made a complete comeback next year?

And thanks to GA running off older talent, most of it is young. Coaching is bad. I would really like to what a competent coach could do with the talent on the team. Tedford took a 1-10 California team (only win was over a 2-9 Rutgers, who finished at the bottom of the Big East) and turned the Bears into a 7-5 team. This year, he took a 1-11 Fresno State team (only win over a 2-9 Sacramento State) and has them at 7-3. A good coach can bring out the talent in teams. (Fresno State's magic number to win the Mountain West West--you can't make this up, even if you wanted to--is 1. One win or a San Diego State and UNLV loss clinches the Mountain West West title for Fresno State.) I am still a Tedford fan. That guy can do great things.

Considering “Hall” already retired from the NFL, I would agree with you. I question anyone who says this team has a “good core”. There is very little talent right now. The skill positions on offense are actually pretty good. Even though the offensive line has under performed, there are a couple of bright spots, namely B Brandel. The TE/H position has under performed but Togiai is a skilled player when he looks the ball in and secures it. Defensively, the LBs are talented, they just haven't all (as a unit) put a great game together, but Manase, Bright, Willis and a small handful of sophs are all good players. They need help up front. In the secondary, X Crawford was a freshman All American (though injured), Dwayne Williams has battled injuries his whole carrier but has also performed very well when he has played. You're seeing guys like Landry Payne emerge (even though he has fought injuries as well), also; David Morris (true freshman), and Jalen Moore has really stepped up in run support. The receiving corps is above average to good when Seth is playing. You add in Villamin, Hodgins, Hernandez and Bradford and there is talent from true frosh up to the SR in Villy. D Line has some good individuals but as a unit (partially due to scheme, 3-4) they are overmatched but Aydon will play on Sundays. So I guess I would question anybody who says "there is very little talent right now"? If you understand the game and what talent looks like at their respective positions, it's very clear there is talent! Go Beavs!

Unfurtunately the biggest issues on this team is the big fellas and depth. Other than QB, which is a fairly important position too.
I think Tedford could find a fix for the latter this offseason. Whatever you think of him, dude knows a good QB when he sees one. And actually, Luton might not be a bad fit for Tedford's system. If the kid can play.
Edit, we need to clean house of this coaching staff, it has proven completely inept. Find a place for Hall if he wants to stick around, the kids obviously like him. And I think once he gets a few more years recruiting under his belt he's going to be really good recruiter.

Sounds like Tedford got $50k bonus and an additional year added to his contract with win over Hawaii on Saturday. Can't imagine he would come cheap....

Totally agree on the house cleaning. I wouldn't even let those bums on the bus after the civil war! Clean their offices and put their belongings in the parking lot during the game. Probably the biggest crime of the Anderpants era is the OSU culture that was lost. Made me sick to see former Beavs hanging out on the Nebraska sidelines. (probably made the husker fans sick too ) Reading about Wisconsin's "blueprint" I saw that Chryst filled his staff with former Badgers. I hope our new HC makes an effort to reconnect with our former players. Go Beavs!!

May or may not work at OSU, but it's a recipe for disaster if you have one singular mindset. I'm all for getting former Beavers in here on the staff, so long that they can coach, and moreso recruit. If they are here only because they played at Oregon State, OSU will suck for years.
Bottom line, OSU is unique to itself, there are severe limitations, there are lots of positives; Pac 12, great town, excellent university. Look, if Leach can turn around WSU, which IMO (no offense cougs), at an even bigger disadvantage than OSU, than you can certainly build a winner at OSU. Just gotta find the right guy for the job, which is never easy.

Utter and complete failure in this ONE quality pretty well sunk our previous coach. A return to normalcy here would be the most welcome change.

For a decent 2018 and possibly a better 2019, the names I've seen most likely to create that are Kiffen and Tedford.

OK...if you think there is so much talent, tell me who would start on another Pac-12 team right now. If you can name more than 2, I would question your sanity.
We do have some decent skill position people, but they are still mostly below the skill players in the rest of the conference.
In addition, the real problem with this team, other than QB, is that both of our lines are way below average in comparison the rest of the conference.
