Hall is NOT an NFL player yet. I don't know why so many Beaver fans are think he might go pro. Very unlikely to even get drafted if he did leave. We're going to go ahead and assume you meant 'Nall'. Collegiate players don't leave early unless they've been told by scouting consultants that they are projected to get drafted in a given round. Nall may very well be one of these players that goes undrafted, gets a chance at free agency, and makes a nice career for himself that way. If he doesn't get a shot at playing time in a skilled position, it's not unreasonable to imagine him being a good special teams guy. He's tough, fast and football smart. Rosters have a place for guys like that.

Honestly, his best bet would be to stay at OSU and hope for a coach that wants to feed him the ball. Transferring to another program sounds great but is no guarantee that he will be the guy. At OSU he is the guy. My guess is that as long as he gets a good feel for the new coach he will be a Beaver in 2018, if he doesn't like the new guy he will transfer. The NFL is the least likely destination in my view.

I think we'd all hate to see him play for another school next year, but I sure wouldn't blame him if he needed to look out for his future. It would certainly tarnish his legacy as a Beaver, though, and I don't know how much of that goes into such a decision. Right now, he's the face of the program. I can't imagine the turmoil that goes into that choice if your nickname isn't 3M.

The skill positions on offense are actually pretty good. Even though the offensive line has under performed, there are a couple of bright spots, namely B Brandel. The TE/H position has under performed but Togiai is a skilled player when he looks the ball in and secures it. Defensively, the LBs are talented, they just haven't all (as a unit) put a great game together, but Manase, Bright, Willis and a small handful of sophs are all good players. They need help up front. In the secondary, X Crawford was a freshman All American (though injured), Dwayne Williams has battled injuries his whole carrier but has also performed very well when he has played. You're seeing guys like Landry Payne emerge (even though he has fought injuries as well), also; David Morris (true freshman), and Jalen Moore has really stepped up in run support. The receiving corps is above average to good when Seth is playing. You add in Villamin, Hodgins, Hernandez and Bradford and there is talent from true frosh up to the SR in Villy. D Line has some good individuals but as a unit (partially due to scheme, 3-4) they are overmatched but Aydon will play on Sundays. So I guess I would question anybody who says "there is very little talent right now"? If you understand the game and what talent looks like at their respective positions, it's very clear there is talent! Go Beavs! OK...if you think there is so much talent, tell me who would start on another Pac-12 team right now. If you can name more than 2, I would question your sanity.
We do have some decent skill position people, but they are still mostly below the skill players in the rest of the conference.
In addition, the real problem with this team, other than QB, is that both of our lines are way below average in comparison the rest of the conference.
"So much talent" is very subjective. My original post referred to their being a "core" of talented players. That usually infers that it's a a smaller group rather than the whole. And by the way, there are talented players that don't start all over the country. Reps are more important than starting in my eyes. Many people here feel that Tyner has been the most productive back this season when he plays. Does he start? No. I don't like your question for a lot of reasons. 1) players change based on scheme changes. For instance, we have some tweener types now that would/could be great DEs in a 4-3 but we run a 3-4 and guys like Baker Pritchard can't be as effective as a head up DT in a 3 man front. He is not as good at taking on double teams every play. That's just one example. 2) Starting does not always say if a player is "talented"! BTW, I didn't say we have the best talent in the conference at our core. Big difference. 3) Kind of piggy backing off of #2, I never said anything about the conference when referencing our team's attrition. This was all "Beaver centric". How about you read the whole post before picking out what ya want and then without context, use it to misrepresent what I said?! That's the kind of garbage that happens here all of the time. And to that point, why does someone's opinion varying from yours compromise their sanity? If ya want to disagree I have no problems but calling out sanity or getting personal about this is childish. It always makes me wonder why some people on here will rip apart what someone posts but rarely offer an answer to the question or the specific reason they disagree. It's more an "I'm right and you're wrong" type attitude. To me, those posters not only show a lack class but a lack of knowledge. Go Beavs!

My point is that we have the 11th or 12th best talent in the league, so it is going to take more than good coaching to get us out of the cellar. We are going to need to improve the talent level, especially on both of the lines in addition to improving the coaching. Our "core" of talent is pretty small right now.

It's more the principal than what was said about "insane", name calling or other things that happen when someone posts on here. Most of the last point you made was valid and I would agree with most of it. We need more talent, I would never dispute that. I do think there is a group of players that could be built off of that are already here, is all I am saying. And if some of those key guys leave, it is going to be a bigger hole created. I think there are a few head coaches that could come in here and achieve instant results but yes, they would need to build on it. What are "instant results"? Well improving on this season shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. But there are a couple guys that I am confident, could come in here and possibly win 4-6 games next season. Will they? Remains to be seen. Who is hired? Who do they bring in for assts., coordinators? How do they finish the recruiting class off? Go Beavs!
