Honest to motherf#%king god, I have NEVER seen that done before in my life.
When you know BOTH your offense and defense suck, why do you waste one of your likely few chances to score by punting there?
I suppose Andersen was so enamored with the previous series punt to the 1 and subsequent safety that he thought we could pull that off again?
There is this thing to consider when deciding to go for it on 4th down, it's called "risk vs reward".
- I get it that we don't trust our FG kicker to make that 47 yard FG, but even if he missed, what's the risk? Turnover to WSU at their own 30. Reward? 3 points.
- Go for it on 4th & 6. Risk? Turnover to WSU at their 30. Reward? first down, maybe 3 points, maybe 7 points.
- Take a delay of game penalty and punt? Risk? Nothing really. Reward? +20 yards of field position.
I know there is a time and place for ULTRA-conservatism. When you're a 24-point underdog on the road with a chance to actually make a game of it in the early going is NOT it.

That was a long way from wearing big boy pants. More like cross dressing. He coached scared all game. As usual a totally muddled game "plan".

As far as "game plan" how does one decide that Pierce should start one week, and the next week he doesn't get a carry until 4th quarter. Just grasping at straws at this point. On a somewhat related note my 4yr old daughter who normally gets pissed when I watch football came to ask me how the beavers were doing. After a little back and forth of me trying to explain why we were losing she simply said "daddy maybe they just don't know how to play football" I was out of answers and simply responded " I think you may be right"

Actually we did something like that against UNLV back in the day. This is hard to watch when concentration breaks down. From 14-9 to oblivion in a couple minutes. To get 2 sacks and give up 57 yard pass is inexcusable. To expect improvement with this group is orange colored nonsense. I am wondering if I even want to show up on the 30th to see a beating take place. The total sum of the parts is much less than each individual part. That is why we are crappy. Improvement? We lost 58-27, beat PSU by 4. They lose 37-14 to Davis. We lose 48-10 to Minnesota. We lose 52 -23 to a good team that plays fast and smart. All the losses are by similar margins whether we play hard or not. The minor effort improvements well dispelled by stupid mistakes. That is not winning football at any level. The only good thing is our QB is out of hospital. Hope this is acceptable.

For those that have the millions to buyout Andersen give it to the AD and your wish will undoubtedly be answered.

We did it twice last week when we were inside the 40 I think. Nothing more embarrassing. It is saying we don't trust our kicker and we don't trust our offense. The worst thing that could happen is we got the safety, now he's going to keep doing it.
Any chance we can find some records for nearest to the goal line to call for a punt. I can't believe anyone has punted from inside the 30.
I just don't even know what to think anymore. Unfortunately this reminds me of the Craig Robinson years in basketball. Poor performance year after year but you just knew they wouldn't fire him.

Taking a touch back on the last play of the first half with time expired deserves honorable mention. Risk? Getting tackled hard. Reward? Possibly score.

At least when we did it last week we were outside the 35 (ie. beyond Choukair's range), and the distance to make the first was worse (at least once it was 4th & 11). Robinson, at least had his CBI championship to ride for a while. Andersen hasn't improved a single thing about this team (on the field), only led them back to the levels not seen since "the streak". For those old enough to remember, punting on 3rd down was part of Prothro's strategy during the Rose Bowl season. Len Frketich was a bona fide weapon in the punting game in those days.

What is also mind boggling and hypocritical on GAG's part is he goes for it on 4th and 1 on OSU's own 34 with the worst play call every called for...run a slow developing running play up the middle when WSU's d-line had been consistently corking up the middle all day. Result? WSU tackles the RB behind the line the scrimmage then gets the ball on downs. Three plays later WSU scores off incredible field position. DUMB! How do you call going for it there but not go for it when it is at WSU's 30 on the other drive? Incompetence to the max
