Picture this: Gary Andersen in his office, looking at our first two games, trying to assess our various problems, and deciding that one of our problems is that Ryan Nall is getting too many touches.
My gawd, the stupid, it burns...
(Yeah, yeah, I know, I like Pierce too, but c'mon...)

Nall is not himself this year.....and now he's out of Andersen's favor......am wondering what's going on there as well.

I've wondered if Nall has been trying too hard to prove he's not just a fullback to NFL scouts or something. He seems to be dancing a lot more this year. Could just be bad blocking too though.

Nall was a Riley recruit. Seems Andersen is progressively minimizing the recruits he inherited and tonight proved that.

Nall is making his own bed. I currently H8 CGA but Nall is hesitating, dancing, etc which is not what has made him successful. I love him, but I'd start AP too.

My casual observation is that our success running the ball has been tied to when we had a quarterback who could run the read option and keep the ball at the correct time.
Seems that with Jake back there, he's no real threat so the D doesn't need to worry too much about him running. They can key on our RB's. It sure would be nice to have 3M as an option to throw back there to test this theory.

We now have a statue QB in a system that needs a mobile one, and it's actually hampering our run game. At this point, I would actually rather have Garretson get the start if we're going to stubbornly stick with this system.
Hell, at this point I think my #1 preference would be to move Collins back to QB once his hand is healed. I think it would be entertaining as hell to see Collins and Nall share the backfield together...

Btw, Nall had a 4.4 ypc average tonight, on 7 carries. Exact same as Pierce. He was the main back in our long (and bizarre) touchdown drive, and he looked good too. The times we ran into trouble on that drive were when we didn't give it to him on first down...

Nall also had the fumble that gave Minnesota a two-score lead in the 3rd and essentially killed us.

The times we ran into trouble on that drive were when we didn't give it to him on first down... The two of them had what, 13 combined carries? We had something like 55 total plays in a hurry up offense? The funny thing is that many on here saw the offense as a strength even after 57 or so plays vs PSU. Folks... we have neither an offense or defense to hang our hat on. If GA remains the coach, which most rightly assume he will because of monetary reasons, we'll most likely be starting over... with new a coordinator or coordinators. Although I'm not sure who'd want to work with him now?! Prez Ray you have very little choice. The experiment and quick impulse hire is a failure. Bite the bullet, dip into the funds for a buyout and new staff. Spend the next 3 months doing your due diligence and find a guy who can salvage the kids we have and land a decent recruiting class by February. That guy is out there... in fact there are more than one. Find him.

Maybe the run game coordinator can sit down with the pass game coordinator and then they can discuss strategy with the night game coordinator and the first down coordinator and we can all get on the same page by the time we get to Pullman.

I'm not sure the "friends and family plan" has any more options. Or at least any that will admit to either category!

Nall also had the fumble that gave Minnesota a two-score lead in the 3rd and essentially killed us. Our backfield is not being used well at all. Some of the best running backs in the PAC and they are being way underused in my opinion. On Nall fumbling; so what, every running back drops one now and then.
