This comment can be found in the press conference for psu seen here: at 4:18
I personally was disgusted by this. Anderson is a tough guy and wants to be perceived that way but I think he took it too far in this situation. Saying that a player was "misrepresenting" the team when in all honesty to me it sounded like he was trying to take responsibility for his poor play is inexcusable in my mind. I get your pissed off Anderson but there is no need to take it out on your players...take a deep breath and try some constructive talk with your players. I don't think reading so far into his players comments is healthy or going to get them to play harder for you...if anything quite the opposite. I also found Anderson to have a little bit of a condescending tone to his comments towards the media throughout acting as if certain questions were stupid as found at 6:16. Anderson even went as far as saying Xavier Crawfords comments were "embarrassing". Personally I think Anderson needs to take a dose of his own medicine which he preaches and represent the team better and more professionally and look at what his players are saying objectively rather than taking them as an insult to his preparation of the team. Put away your pride Anderson. It definitely doesn't represent Beaver nation well. Anderson is lucky I am a Beaver fan through thick and thin or else I might have stopped rooting for the Beavers due to this...Truly disappointing.

Andersen did get a little heated when whatever comment Xavier made was repeated. Ideally he should have left it at that's the first I've heard of it and said next question. He needs to pay attention to whatever media discussion he has with the kids or realize stuff can catch people off guard sometimes.

Big Boy Pants alert!!!! 5:53
I don't have a problem with what he said, he was reacting to what a player (Crawford) said to the media. If you are going to question the team you better be ready to be questioned yourself.

I listen to these things every week, and that was definitely the surliest GA has ever been. At one point Gina Mizell seemed so caught off guard by his demeanor that if sounded like she was unsure of if she should even ask her next question.
I also got a kick out of Jon Warren asking if a loss like this forces him to adjust his practice routine, and GA saying "our routine has been proven to be effective. We will never change."

One thing Mike Parker said (interview on the radio) last week was, "what I like about Gary Andersen is what he says is what you get." I have no problems with Coach Andersen in this Q and A session. He seemed to very much dislike any of his players speaking to the media criticizing other players after a loss, (which is exactly what XC did by the way.) even if it is sort of the non specific "we failed to communicate as a team." I got the impression from his comments on "championship effort players", that XC was not on that list. XC is a pretty damn good player but maybe did not grade out so well in the CSU game and probably should watch his after game comments more carefully in the future. I certainly don't think CGA threw anyone under a bus in this press conference. One other thing. Maybe most of you have seen this. This is the architects idea of what (Parker) Reser Stadium was supposed to look like in 1950. Would have been awesome, but like usual back in the day OSU did not have the money to complete it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reser_Stadium#/media/File:OSU_Parker_Stadium.png

For clarification what Crawford said was the team wasn't ready after half. CGA disagrees. And he's the boss man.

Once again GA has his belief in his staff, program, routine as most coaches at this level do. They have 2 have this with any chance to be successful. That quote doesn't surprise me one bit. He could be having a "teachable moment" in the press. This is a fine line though. Coaches say things in public that are true or errrr.... not true. Coaches motivate many ways. I'm not in that locker room to know how this is perceived. Again...results matter. Wins matter. This is year 3 & GA or any high level coach doesn't walk away with expectations. He knows where he stands nor does he back away. I judge 5,6,7 wins PERIOD.

Because if GA calls that prepared he's in the wrong line of work.

You are possibly overlooking the remote chance that the coaches instructed, coached, motivated, and the players didn't get the job done. It's been known to happen.

Because if GA calls that prepared he's in the wrong line of work. Baseba111 you absolutely might be right. But 2 straight turnovers & a quick 17 point lead can do that. But again I'm a realist and know that the 2nd half was brutal on all ends. Defense has to answer. GA, players, fans all deserve better. I would hope that we all feel that way. But catching a young player and asking him a question after a bad day for everyone and him saying a cliche quote. I'm fine with. Again CA might be having a teachable moment. Maybe not. We will find out. Players make plays. Players win games. Coaches get judged if they do.

True... but, if you watched the game you would agree this team was in no way motivated or they are zombies. They were also the 2nd best coached team in the field. Year 3 for both coaches. "Lesser" recruits. Aligned, knew assignments, executed... played with passion and under control. We were not that team... It is very very apparent that GA and staff are not teaching and reaching the majority of these players. A lot of x's and o's can be overcome with good teaching and kids that will run thru the wall for you. That's not happening... none of it.

What a goofy comment, like I'd post all my opinions without seeing it. But yes, I agree. They were the 2nd best coached team on the field. Yes, they obviously carried out their game plan better, even CGA aknowledged that. But I'm not ready to agree on your third point. It was one game. A klunker, big time. Kind of the perfect storm. Well documented. I have faith that the team is much better than that and am not ready to throw my hands up and say all is lost after one game. Geez, if I did that I would have never been a fan for all these years with crappy teams, and good teams with crappy, slow starts. I say lighten up and move forward. Lamenting that second half performance takes energy and yields nothing. I'm looking for a big win Saturday. If we lose of course it will be an entire different story.

Yaahhh, so after listening to that for a few minutes I'm gonna go back to my policy of not watching GA pressers. He just comes across like a shyster to me. All his talk about putting the blame on himself and the coaching staff rather than the players rings hollow with me and in fact sounds passive-aggressive. Dude just sounds like he read a few football motivational books and then tries to parrot all the cliches he learned in interviews. I really fear that in actuality he is just in over his head. Prove me wrong Gary, prove me wrong. Justjay.... I get it. I get it. Coaches are so judged in so many ways now days on how the deal w/ press etc. We get it right Beav nation?!? A certain guy 2 nice. A certain guy 2 many cliches. There is no right. What coaches have to do is believe in their staff, players, program etc. They live and die by it. What do we judge as fans? Victories baby. This is year 3 and should be judged this way. Players make plays... players win games...coaches get judged by it. Again, I'm a realist 5,6,7 wins PERIOD

Yeah, it's from the Whittingham template, right? Ah, F. From the Whittingham tree.........that's nice. I'm gonna vomit.
