being that our #1 or #1A is not available, I don't think we can set the rotation as normal (best guy first and so on). I believe Bryce needs to start against CSF, leave Jake for LSU and hope Drew and the pen can win game #3. that would give Jake enough rest that he could start game #1 of championship series. we are not deep enough to get into the losers bracket. its a gamble but we are in a tough situation. hopefully Bryce can cover for Luke's innings otherwise our pen gets exposed and we will have to go deeper into it than we have all year.

I was wondering the same thing regarding Fehmel starting. What about Rasmussen for tomorrow? He should be rested and (hopefully) healed up from that hematoma. He may need the most rest before the championship round.

I gotta disagree. We need to do everything possible to stay out of the loser's bracket, especially with Luke out, and that means getting the first one. Throw Jake against the Tits. Then it's whoever gives you the best chance against the 'Noles/Bayou Bengals winner. If that's Raz, then so be it. If we win the first two, then we have Fehmel in game three, and whoever we're facing then will be down to their 4th pitcher, at best. I like our chances. Fehmel had a great start against Vandy, but that was the best game he's thrown all year. I don't think you lead off game 1 with him on the bump.

Bryce pitched amazingly... but a lot last saturday and, at least on wednesday his arm was still sore. He may not be able to go tomorrow... He wasn't in the rotation for 6 weeks, he still probably needs to build back up...

Read somewhere that Thompson said he was "90%" sure he was starting tomorrow. He hadn't been told officially from what I gathered.
I'm Casey I trust!

Win first two, path is very good.
Win only first one, path is fair to good
Lose first game, path is poor.

Win first two, path is very good. Win only first one, path is fair to good Lose first game, path is poor. Losing either of the first two puts you in the same position. 2-0: great 1-1: at least you're still alive 0-2: toast

Beavs play their (supposedly) weakest opponent in game 1

Thompson Razzy Fehmel
Don't fall into the same trap that doomed Nebraska. Fehmel was getting lit up earlier in the season because he was getting tired. After resting up for a month, he was able to regain his command against Vanderbilt. Don't short rest the guy.

This is our best recipe to get through the first two, which is the best way to win. Plus, we have a DEEP bullpen, probably the best in the CWS. If Razz needs to come out after five for us to win, do it. Get the first two, let everyone else figure out how to stitch it together.

GOTTA win the first one, so pitch the guy who gives you the best chance. If you do that, pitch the guy who gives you the best chance at game two.

Absolutely have to start with our best guy.....Jake
CSF is very tough and we cannot risk a first round loss

I gotta believe if it comes down to a battle of pitching depth we win. If we win the first two,the game one starter (Jake)can come back and pitch game three on six days rest which is plenty. The game two starter could in theory come back and start game one of the championship series on seven days rest. The only time you even get to the third starter is if you lose a game in the first bracket or we are fortunate enough to get to game two of the Championship series. Starting less than your best in game one makes no sense and is bad karma.
