I gotta believe if it comes down to a battle of pitching depth we win. If we win the first two,the game one starter (Jake)can come back and pitch game three on six days rest which is plenty. The game two starter could in theory come back and start game one of the championship series on seven days rest. The only time you even get to the third starter is if you lose a game in the first bracket or we are fortunate enough to get to game two of the Championship series. Starting less than your best in game one makes no sense and is bad karma. If the game 1 starter returned for game 3, it would be on 5 days rest (6 days later), which is one day more rest than most MLB pitchers get, but one day less than college pitchers are used to. The CWS taxes a pitching staff much less than the regional does.

Register-Guard says Jake will start today.
Jake-Razz-Bryce makes the most sense to me too.
Do not worry Beaver faithful. We WILL win today. It's orange hair day for Dave, and that never lets me down. On to victory!

Worry about today, today. Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. In other words, give today your best shot.

As Coach Casey and all the players say, "1 pitch, 1 inning, 1 game at a time!" In Thompson I trust! Go Beavs!
