I can imagine the chaos this has created for the political administrators. The information Kerry produced could have been collected in two days with a large staff in crisis management mode. Why they have not produced a reasoned response, not specific to LH, but to the acceptance of juvenile offenders is confusing. They have a platform to do some good and they remain silent. That speaks to a lack of leadership.
At least the other half of the story is now on the record and people can draw their own conclusions. This should take the leaners and put them in LH's court.
Get this off his record in August and come back for a senior year. LH is a great example of rehabilitation and we should not drive him into the shadows.

Its possible Luke didn't want to face that? Would you? The University shut down the idea anyway. It's a closed subject now and neither Luke, nor Casey nor the school owe anybody any response at this point. What do you expect them to say about not playing? "Well he didnt play, so he didn't go out on the mound and throw the ball. He didn't go in the game. He wasn't in the line up. No innings pitched." If he doesn't play, they don't owe anybody outside of the program anything. What IS owed is to the other players on this team is to keep this thing on the rails and give them every chance to continue to pursue this path of excellence they are blazing. The best revenge at this point is laser focus to beat CSFS and keep winning until everyone is shut the hell up.

Very good article. What a difference from the crap coming out of that other paper.

Good article. Actual journalism with a capital J. Too bad we can't find this depth of reporting in the Oregonian.

I "smelled a rat" from the 1st Moran article. A bald headed one.

There are two versions of the article:
Version 1
Was the decision not to play in last weekend's Super Regional really that of Heimlich, as was announced to the public?
No. Casey said it was made by university officials on Friday before the first game.
Version 2 (current version)
Was the decision not to play in last weekend's Super Regional really that of Heimlich, as was announced to the public?
Heimlich recused himself from playing, saying in a statement he didn't want to be a "distraction." But the decision was made after strong suggestions by university officials that participation wouldn't be in the best interest of the individual or school.
Note - this latter statement is no longer attributed to Casey.

I "smelled a rat" from the 1st Moran article. A bald headed one. Some radio listeners of the bald headed one pointed out to him that he's running ads for a PDX strip club during his radio show. A strip club that's been in the news due to legal issues over the years. An entertaining exchange if anything.

Does anyone think that D Moran could ever, remotely, feel a shred of remorse for destroying someone's career and costing them potentially millions of dollars for no benefit to anyone whatsoever?

Does anyone think that D Moran could ever, remotely, feel a shred of remorse for destroying someone's career and costing them potentially millions of dollars for no benefit to anyone whatsoever? I would actually LOVE to know what Moran is feeling right now... we see and hear way to much from Clownzano and know he feels no remorse, but I have seen enough of Danny to assume, wonder, think he is probably just as conflicted over all this as we all are. Yeah he found the initial info / got the tip and had his name on the byline, but there were lots of folks pushing and helping along the way. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find that he had more reservations about the article than most others in the news room, and that this spiralled more than he thought it would... Or maybe he feel righteous about it all and is glad Luke is screwed forever now... Like I said I would love to hear his internal monologue right now...

Apparently after reading Prof's post that should be a small j.. Why? If you read Prof's post, there was an important revision to the story.

If you read Prof's post, there was an important revision to the story. There is no way Eggers would have quoted Casey saying something if Casey hadn't said it. Period. Sounds more like a misunderstanding between them of on/off the record attribution.

Sounds more like a misunderstanding between them of on/off the record attribution. Either way, it wasn't accurate. Love Kerry, don't get me wrong, but you can't say it's not a major error.
