There certainly are options left.
On the lineup, it looks much better this year. We need 1 point guard as a starter and I think McLaughlin can fit the bill. We have a couple kids who are serviceable to give him breaks.
Last year for much of the season we had 1 big guy, a true freshman point and a couple shooting guards, and several walkons, all often asked to play out of position. When Big G got to start we were up to two bigs. This year we can play a traditional rotation, or go small and quick because Coach T wants to, not because he has to.
I'm starting to look forward to this year.

Watched 7-1 guy play yesterday and was super impressed. The kid has a healthy dose of athleticism. more so than any big on the roaster not named Eubanks. He repeatedly ferociously dunked over other college players. I'm starting to get excited about the athleticism we have coming off the bench this year

Curious where you saw him play, who the other college players were, and why you think he has to come off the bench? I like the idea of 7'1 and 6'10 on the floor together.

It was a open run with all the incoming freshman and a couple of last year's guys plus the other transfers. Definitely does not necessarily need to come off the bench. I was only pointing out that if he does come off the pine it would be a Quantum Leap from the boys that were asked to do so last year. Maybe he starts maybe he doesn't only downside to the kid I saw was he is real thin and I never really got to see him take a jumper. But the boy has Eric Moreland type Above the Rim game and defense. Yes when the other 7-footer arrives the Wilson kid I believe. We should absolutely be rolling by then

Thanks a bunch for the extra info. In the high school video I saw, Kelley was hitting jumpers from 15+ feet, which would be huge if that translates to D1 play. I hope he takes schoolwork seriously so that we have him for more than just one season. My guess is that he won't be qualified in time to go on the Spain trip in August with the rest of the team, unfortunately.

The Spain trip is going to tell us a lot; hopefully he is able to travel with the team and get out on the floor.

Look... hoping he can play at this level... hoping (can't be worse???)more than last year's bench play... but, I think fans are a little premature on this kid. He was never a true factor at a small small college level... athletically or academically it seems. You can't teach tall, but to think 300+ other schools missed out on an immediate D1 contributor is a little far fetched. Playing pick up ball with other recruits is a far cry from Pac12 play.
So... maybe he gets eligible... maybe he is strong to hold his own vs bigs in NC play... maybe he can give us some quality minutes off the bench in Pac12 play... maybe... hopefully.

We should not be optimistic or hopeful, or harbor the barest glimmerings of expectation, lest those hopes and expectations be dashed against cold, hard reality. A child may have his Santa Claus, but as adults we must scrub such childish dreaming from our conscious minds, for we all must die, all hope will be lost, dust to dust, ashes to ashes. And furthermore, it is our responsibility to visit our vision, our insight, our cynicism onto others, for it is TRUTH, and all should become as we, and no one shall be spared. Forgive me my transgressions, Oh Mighty One.

As is your interpretation/immature post of being "premature" about a unproven player not yet even qualified (could be by this time?) let alone played a min versus D1 competition in a game atmosphere. Of course you have posted about 50 times with the majority regurgitations of common info. Oh, other than the Rueck vs Geno blather. So, you'll get it eventually... thick head or not!

Forgive me, Oh Mighty One! At this instant, I am on bent knee, genuflecting in adoring supplication before you! For as I am lacking your "competitive athletic experience", no opinion of mine could ever be worthy of posting on the same pubic forum as you! I am truly, truly sorry. I will strive to dash all hope and expectation and to soon forget forever the flaccid dreams of this ignorant pretender. Once again, I beg your forgiveness, Oh Mighty One! (Oh, by the way, should I start stomping on other people's dreams, too, or are you the only one allowed to do that?) Again, I beg your forgiveness! And I feel (perhaps overstepping here) so proud that you would spend the time to research my past postings! I am honored by your attention, to find out WHO I am and WHAT I am (barely a child next to you), and to help (so graciously) correct the errors in my sordid history of presumptuous opining. For thou, Oh Mighty One, should surely have been consulted before ever contemplating calling Geno Auriemma a "pus bucket" as I did !!! My sins weigh heavily on me, and only thine own blessing can cleanse my shame. Be assured, showing me the error of my ways is no mean feat, but Thou hast done it! Again, and forever and always, with admiration and respect for your athletic prowess and sublime intelligence, I beg your forgiveness.

GPII not only had the pedigree, academic requirements fulfilled, but two solid/ extremely successful JC seasons. Apples Oranges...

In regards to your comment "about a unproven player not yet even qualified (could be by this time?) let alone played a min versus D1 competition in a game atmosphere", he has in fact played 27 minutes against a quality D1 opponent (ducky sorts) and scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and blocked 2 shots in that game. He impressed impartial observers enough to garner compliments in ducky news accounts of the game. So this, in addition to the recent observations of him applying "ferocious" dunks against other college players DOES give (some of us) hope that he could be a major surprise contributor this year. Yes, it is just hopeful thinking at this time, but it IS possible that under WT's tutelage he could become a significant offensive and/or defensive threat. So let's just wait and see, okay? We've got to have something to ponder while waiting for football to start and (hoped for) basketball reports from Spain.
