If Hem and JT can throw Strikes and keep the ball down, down, down we will do fine. I really like are chances if these guys are normal. We get into a Hitting Match and we are in trouble. Just saying.....

The Beavs will get it done! BUT, Vandy is on a roll. They can crush the ball. Also, their friday starter is projected a top 5 pick? If the Beaver starters give up a few runs or more per game, I think the Beaver small ball O cannot keep up with Vandy's O. Vandy is definitely peaking at the right time. Vandy is a scary opponent, but, what do you expect? It's the supers. In Pat Casey I trust. So, I am predicting the Beaver pitchers to just dominate. So, I'll see you in Omaha! Of the draft eligible players, Baseball America ranks Kyle Wright as the best right-hander in the college ranks. Jeren Kendall is the best outfielder in the college ranks. Will Toffey is the 6th-best third baseman. Reed Hayes is the 35th-best right-hander in the college ranks. Hayes also plays outfield, when he's not pitching. Luke Heimlich is the 4th-best left-hander. KJ Harrison is the 4th-best first baseman. Jake Thompson is the 11th-best right-hander. Drew Rasmussen is the 16th-best right-hander. Yes. Kyle Wright is the top shelf pitcher. And their Saturday pitcher is pretty solid, also. Will Toffey is peaking right now. He had a great freshman year. Kind of dropped off a bit last year? But, right now, he's coming on strong. He is the lead dog that get things going offensively. Double digit dingers. High average. Ditto for Kendall. And their Catcher has pop with double digit hrs. They seem pretty complete as a team. And I'm sure Tim Corbin (like Pat Casey) stresses fundamentals, also. As someone has stated on another post, the Beaver pitchers need to keep the ball DOWN. i noticed Thompson at times makes mistakes up. I have a feeling guys like Toffey and/or Kendall will make him pay for those mistakes. In the end, the Beavs are the number one team. The Beavs have an incredible group of pitchers, great defense, and disciplined hitters. Beavs will win! They're at home and they're my team. Gotta win for pac and west coast pride. F the SEC.

No doubt Vandy is a worthy opponent. But everyone in Omaha will be tough. That's why they are there. If we can't take down Vandy in our own house, we do not deserve to be in Omaha.
That said, I am utterly convinced, rain or shine, that this team is a team of destiny, and that they are not going to be denied getting to the CWS.

Vandy is going to get Gossed.
They have no idea.
It is nothing like the SEC way over here. Beaver ball is precise and razor sharp, opportunistic, and more than a little edgy.
Throw in the elements of unfamiliarity, like some good old fashioned winterlike conditions with cold pacific maritime air, 3 hour time difference along with northern latitude (the june days are a little longer up here, just enough to mess with you depending on what you are used to). But intangibles dont matter to a focused team, Well let's see how focused they are...

Whoa. Wow. That's a lot to process. Ya no kidding...don't even know what to think except its sickening. I feel absolutely terrible for everyone involved in this story and at least my knee jerk reaction is that it's pretty slimy timing by the oregonian. I don't know if there's ever a good time, but the night before his biggest game of the year feels pretty contrived.

Looks like JT will get the Friday Start with Rass on Sat. If the Oregonian hasn't blown up the entire weekend, I still like our chances. JT, keeping the Ball Down is dang near un-hittable. Who knows, Luke may still be in the mix.

After reading the disturbing article on Oregonlive this morning I am certainly not ready Hope I'm wrong, but after the news I suspect we are at most 70% of our normal, just too much for young men to deal with, I suspect Vandy in two. I just don't see how we can overcome this tragic news, a great season down the tubes possibly, but who knows, maybe they suck it up and get an edge. Don't see PC putting LH on the bump, the kid would be in tears about letting the whole team and school down, he's likely toast, as is his life.

The emotional leaders of the team, like Jake and Drew will draw the team together. Those leaders will already be getting the team to focus. Zero doubt about that. The team will be more together than before the ugly news became public. Still, the potential loss of innings will be tough to overcome in an obvious understatement.
Eisert or Tweedt or Britton will step up. That is what truly great teams do. Jmho.

We had such a historic season this year. With the Luke article, I am sad. I feel sorry for the victim/family.......and Luke. He made a huge/sick mistake as a minor. And he definitely will have that following him for the rest of his life. He knows that. Hopefully, he's a better person, now. For this to come out now is sad.
It's gonna be hard to rally the team. These are kids. I dunno.
As of now, with Luke probably out, Vandy has got this in 2.
This article puts a "cloud" over the Beaver accomplishments this year.
I cannot blame the Oregonian. I cannot even blame Luke. I have to blame the athletic dept. Luke was a minor at the time, though. Let's not forget. No matter how f'd the minor is, there is still a chance for him.........and the victim. They are / were children. Children are our future. I don't want to take away Luke's promising MLB future if he has been doing all the right things and has been rehabbed........I'm sure and I hope he is a better person, now. He just needs to to have the balls to face the music amongst his teammates and peers. This is terrible for all parties involved.
The timing is terrible but this is no Jeremy Masoli type of thing. This is different. This is sick and sad. What a bombshell. I really don't care about the outcome, now, but, Vandy to sweep with Luke out. This sucks.

Quit blaming the Oregonian This duty that you speak of - where does this end? If Luke goes to a minor league team, do you report this again to his new community? Do you exercise your duty by running a regular column and call out every local perp on the register every time they take a new job, move to a new community? Or do you just exercise your duty when someone has a chance to be successful? I don't see duty here, I see opportunists not thinking and writing a shallow piece.

Let's also not ignore the fact that "it came to light" because Danny ran a criminal background check on Luke. As the old saying goes, when you go looking for a fight, you usually find one.
