Seems like your sign game is a bit too on point and the NCAA doesn't want the Beavs to have that advantage anymore

Sneaking them in isn't the issue. The issue is getting kicked out for having them. I will be signless, again. Damn the NCAA to hell. We need to get you some shirts with your 'signs' on them then...

My contact at the baseball office just messaged me that stadium security staff has changed, because this is an NCAA event. They are not allowing team managers into the dugout, and players like Casey and Gambrell have to watch the game from the stands. Unbelievable. This is just another stupid and arbitrary rule they can make, in order to be complete and total a-holes. I am adding the NCAA to my short list of things I hate and want to see destroyed. What kind of players are Casey and Gambrell that they wouldn't be allowed in the dugout? Honest question, I know nothing about either of them. Casey is Joe casey (Pat's son) . Both players are likely not on the playoff roster. So the NCAA is making a point to have non roster players out of the dugout. I guess that makes it fair since the travelling teams would not travel their non (playoff) roster players

Those of you watching other Regionals on ESPN, have you seen signs at any other games?
I'm about out of ideas for tonight. I have been told the team wants to see my signs too. Guess they don't count either. Check out Kendal Rogers twitter. He tweeted a picture tonight showing signs at the Long Beach St regional.

Tonight's head of stadium security (Saturday nite) told me the NCAA rewrote the rules on signs since the Final 4 of basketball. They do not want any signs at playoff games. So, how the hell are they allowed at the Dirtbags stadium in Long Beach? Supposedly a young girl had a small flag at the Holy Cross-Nebraska game that had lettering on it. They took it away from her. WTF is wrong with these people? They would have made good Nazi's.

The NCAA is bloated and corrupt and of little use to anyone but itself. For years their primary mission has been to maximize the $$$ flowing into their pocket. They're not going to make any $$$ off EugeneDave's signs, so EugeneDave doesn't get to play.
Now if Unca Phil wanted signs, THAT'S a different story.
With the NCAA, $$$ talks and everything else (including fans, athletes, coaches, etc.) can just f**k off and walk. The NCAA's time has passed. It should be gone. Like five years ago.

Looking at the manuals and guidance I don't see anything prohibiting your signs. The first document is for host universities and the second document is "Best Practices" for security. It is cited in the first document. Again, nothing in either about restricting signs. You cannot obstruct other fans views of the game, but I doubt they could get you on that. Language on signs from the last NCAA Gymnastics tournament: Page 48: Signs, Flags, Banners. Large signs, flags or banners are not permissible. It is the facility personnel’s responsibility to confiscate all prohibited articles. Items that can be held by one individual, reflect good sportsmanship and do not block the view of other ticketed patrons may be permitted. In no case may a sign, flag or banner be affixed to the facility.
They cite the same "Best Practices" guide in the above post. Gymnastics Manual

The "rules" are only as good (or bad) as the stadium security that is enforcing (or not) them.
This particular instance it is the stadium security that is the problem. Obviously they had a staff meeting that reinforced a misinterpretation of the rules... inadvertently or on purpose?!
I'm not an NCAA defender, but it's a $1b nonprofit that oversees almost 1300 other "businesses", many of this looking to skate any loophole they can find. They also have an endowment (probably approaching $400-500ml to run. Their written rules are fairly clear, but just like in their other "businesses" they do expect some competence from the "employees".

I love a good college baseball discussion thread.
What does it say about this forum when there are 8 posts about a stellar performance by Luke Heimlich, Jack Anderson, Steven Kwan et. al. v Yale...and 29 posts about Signs / NCAA idiocy / stadium security staff?
just askin'......
