It appears that Andrea Aquino is on campus today. The 6'9" Class of 2018 center from New Jersey (via Paraguay) is an OSU verbal commit who appears to be visiting Corvallis this weekend along with another very tall recruit in the 6'7" height range or so. Aquino has recently rocketed up to #6 overall in the ESPNW Class of 2018 girls basketball recruiting rankings.
If anyone else spots them, please warmly welcome both of the recruits and try to make them feel at home. I would love to find out who the other very tall athlete is who is visiting today along with Ms. Aquino.
Go Beavs!

On Prospects Nation this one seems to be a likely possibility (uncommitted and from CA)...could this be other besides Aquino? There were no others uncommitted taller than 6'5". She is #87 on their site.

That was Martha Petroskya a dodge ball recruit. Rated no. 5 by the NDBA (National dodge ball Association)
Martha plays forward launcher on the short side of the gym. Averages 11.2 kills per game with a concussion service rating of 4.1 on a scale of 5. Her quickness and ability to use other players as human shields is her strength according to her high school coach, Claude Dungfelter.

Patricia must not be that "under the radar": [from: duartebasketball.weebly.com/falcon-program-news.html ]: "Patricia Morris has had schools like USC, UNLV, Kansas State, Oregon State, Washington, Arizona, Baylor, Texas A&M, UC San Diego, Loyola Marymount and a host of other schools lobbying hard for her services as a collegiate player over the past few years. Her first attention from schools coming as early as 8th grade." Although this is the first I have heard of her......WBB recruiting services seem to be a little less evolved than their men's counterparts. Here is another article that claims she is 6'7" and still growing: www.sgvtribune.com/sports/20150213/duarte-girls-basketball-patricia-morris-cap-perfect-montview-seasonTwin towers, anyone? She and Andrea would make great additions to the program! I wonder if Patricia can dunk (also) :-). Go Beavs!

2ndGenBeaver - -good find....I had not heard of Paricia Morris before you tracked her down......Sounds like a promising talent, but unless she sky rockets, she may be closer to a project than a 1st or 2nd year impact player. She was voted MVP other h.s. league, and she has been a starter at Duarte for 3 years, so she certainly would not be an unknown commodity to SoCal college recruiters..... Keep digging. Maybe you'll unearth some additional info about what looks like an interesting prospect.

My mind was blurred by early morning fog when I posted about Patrica Morris earlier......I was thinking she would be arriving on campus this September, but she has a full year of h.s. remaining.
A little research tells us that she has had an impressive h.s. career thus far - she has been covered quite extensively in the SoCal media, so, by no stretch of the imagination is she an under the radar prospect. Everyone who needs to know about her certainly does. I have feeling she will be front and centre in WBB recruiting news this upcoming season.... With her recruitment Rueck solidifies his reputation as the premiere West Coast Coach for development of post players with height. I don't know of any program in the country that has so many 6'7" and taller projects on the hook as Rueck & Co......GO BEAVS.....

With her recruitment Rueck solidifies his reputation as the premiere West Coast Coach for development of post players with height. I believe this to be true, but I wonder how he's seen outside Corvallis. It seems like we've seen so many big girls around the Pac that never seem to improve. You see them as freshmen and think, "She's going to be dangerous . . . ", but the next year she doesn't look any different, and the year after, and the year after . . . But look at the improvement year-over-year by Ruth and Marie. Marie was an unremarkable backup for Ruth last year, and All-Conference this year. Ruth's improvement, of course, will go down in legend. Maybe Scott just recruits girls with the sort of work ethic that it takes to grow even when you're already big. But I suspect he's knows something that other coaches don't, but I don't know what exactly that is.

Pretty sure she was in attendance at the USC (Galen center) game this year.

For those who are serious about checking out Patricia Morris, several of her games for this past season are available on You Tube at Duarte High School. She moves pretty well; has good horizontal quickness. I'll await someone else's assessment who is more qualified to analyze h.s. game video....

I keep waiting for the posting/tweet with pictures of the visitors in Beaver garb..... And Coach SR standing on his tippy toes, though with this weekend's tall timber visitors it won't matter much :-).
Go Beavs!

I likewise am hopeful that the Beavs may have obtained another verbal commitment from the 6'7" Class of 2018 recruit that was on campus over the weekend. I know that the OSU coaching staff can't publish or say anything until any of their Class of 2018 verbal commits sign NLIs during the early signing period (as soon as this coming November), so I tried to find a Twitter account for Patricia Morris and was not successful.
As noted by 411500 above, attached below are two YouTube links showing Patricia Morris in action playing for her Duarte HS team.
My sources in Corvallis point to a very productive official visit for the Beavs and their two tall recruits despite the rainy weather this weekend.

I only watched a few minutes, but she looks surprisingly mobile and fluid. It looks like her coach is making her play her position, not just her size. She pops up to the top on defense in a way that Ruth never could.

Hard to say, seems to have heavy feet, but you can't really tell from this sample. Young and will get stronger, so who knows, SR will let us know. Needs a LOT of work I think but you can't teach tall either...
