......, so I tried to find a Twitter account for Patricia Morris and was not successful. Inconceivable! If there is no Twitter account for Patricia she must not exist! All teens these days must put their entire life on public display, and mess with a mobile device 24x7. Why, how else would we learn who "The Franchise" is for the 'ucks? ( twitter.com/sabrina_i20?lang=en - see summary - actually "THE FRANCHISE (tm)" ). (tongue firmly in cheek:) While I find it refreshing Patricia doesn't appear to have a twitter account, it does make it hard for us to track her thinking, at least until November :-). Looking at a little bit of the game, I was impressed with how Duarte looked well-coached, and they were not a 1-trick pony of "pound it inside", with outside shooters and ball movement. Well coached, team oriented players would be welcome in Corvallis, and as has been observed, you can't coach 6'7". Go Beavs!

- It was refreshing to hear about Patricia Morris the "old fashioned way". Will be interesting to hear about her reasons for not participating in tweeting like most all of her generation. - Amazing to think the new bar for this program is contending for Pac-12 championship, NCAA berth, hosting first two rounds, getting to Sweet 16 or beyond. And in the coming years, we are even hosting the NCAA Regional (though we need to ensure we participate in them as well!). We have come very far very fast. - With a highly regarded class this year, and (likely) an even more highly regarded class the following year, the future is very, very bright. - The Tribune article shed some light on Coach SR recruiting philosophy, and it sounds like a good one in terms of really focusing on student athlete development for 12 players and not 15 (I suspect our APR standing is also positively affected by this approach). - Sunday night, Shayley Harris committed to UCLA. I wonder if Patricia Morris visit/verbal had anything to do with that.... - You forgot to credit Mark Campbell in all of this. Go Beavers!!

2ndGenBeaver - You write: "Sunday night, Shayley Harris committed to UCLA. I wonder if Patricia Morris visit/verbal had anything to do with that..." Good question. The reverse is also a good question. Which is to say: Perhaps Harris made it clear that she was headed to UCLA, so Coach quickly went to Option 2, which was Morris. I have no idea which is correct. However, Coach R & OSU have been recruiting Harris a lot longer than they have been pursuing Morris, and much more openly. Harris is a more widely known commodity, and a higher ranked prospect. Who knows who Coach really wanted the most.
Recruiting is so secretive, so non-transparent, that almost everything about it is more mystery than certainty. So for now most Beaver fans will assume Morris was the #1 prospect and Harris was passed over for a better player. Personally, I have my doubts about that.

I think SR would have taken Harris AND Morris, if it worked out that way. He has the schollies to hand out, and you never know when a recruit might flip on you or get injured (e.g Tarea Green).
It seems weird that SR is essentially done for 2018. What are we going to talk about on this board for the next five months?

Article said that Tarea Green is unlikely to be back. Anyone know what the story is with her? Why likely not back?

Since they aren't allowed to talk about injuries, I don't think we'll ever get much of an official explanation. All I know is that she's rarely been healthy enough to play.

Being honest, and sometimes athletics can be harsh, she was never the caliber of player that would be anything but a bench filler at OSU.
I wasn't impressed with her HS game and with SR's classes at the time she didn't seem to fit... to me. It wasn't like she couldn't play. But, at the level we were trending she didn't have the inside or combo game to help.
And now, with even better recruits it's obvious she needs to go find a place to get minutes. Good luck to her... she'll do well at a smaller school.

I did a little googling . . . Tarea was a 4-star recruit on some boards. But she couldn't live up to that 4-star potential. It's tough to succeed when you can't practice at 100%, and it's tough to keep your attitude up when you have little chance of playing.
I thought it was a good point in the Tribune article - SR didn't like having 14 players on the roster because it's so hard on the players at the end of the pine.

So for now most Beaver fans will assume Morris was the #1 prospect and Harris was passed over for a better player. Personally, I have my doubts about that. Reading the BeaversEdge article ( oregonstate.rivals.com/news/oregon-state-wbb-is-on-fire-morris-commits) was revealing.....if we believe the information there (and it sounds pretty legitimate), Morris has been developing a relationship with all of the coaches (I have never heard a run down like hers detailing home visits, Mandarin practice, and lots of conversations with KTBaker) since "last April", which must be 2016, since she also mentions an unofficial visit in November (was she the third woman in the picture with Grymek and Corosdale at the football game?). Now the interesting chronology is the fact that she committed to the Beavers on Mother's Day during her official visit (aside: super nice touch getting Andrea Aquino's Mom in town from Paraguay over Mother's day!). Mother's Day was May 12. Shayley Harris committed to UCLA on May 21 via twitter. I assume coach SR wouldn't decline the services of a highly ranked post like Shay Harris, but we may never know..... Clearly this staff knows how to recruit, and build relationships. Not surprising, but impressive nonetheless. Go Beavers!
