After last night's loss, particularly given the nature of the loss, IMHO Game 2 today looms as the first (of many to come) "most important game of the season".
As an added area of importance: will Fehmel resemble Ball State-ASU-Utah [total 22 ip, 9 h, 3 ER], or Ohio State-Stanford [total 8 ip, 13 h, 8 ER]?

Obviously he prefers to pitch in cooler damp weather, so I like his chances today

It's not the pitching I'm necessarily concerned about... he could falter, but we need the offense to be productive. The (11) hits were meaningless for the most part for all the opportunities we squandered. Small ball is not small ball unless you actually capitalize. Even though I thought PC should have moved runners a few more times, we never got consistent key hits. We need to put up some crooked numbers today and tomorrow.

Opinion, Fehmel has a very small path to success. He has to be deadly with the breaking ball and hit the corners. Down the middle against a good hitting team he is Hit pipeline. Sure is easy doing this rather than throwing the damn ball. LOL

I had a dream last night we hung 37 runs on them tonight; 6 in each of the first 4 innings and then 13 in the 7th. It was the 13 in the 7th, for some reason, that convinced me it was a dream and I woke up. Oh, I think it was a shut out as well.

Top of 1st. Again the Beavers scored a run. Again, they coulda had more. Starting pitcher threw 22 pitches; sorta meaningless considering that UW will bring in their "real" starter after 1 or 2 innings. Good news: Fehmel strikes out first Husky batter. Not so good, UW batter #2 strokes a double (actually an error)? Fehmel strikes out Joey Morgan (Sisters, Oregon) to end inning - really fooled Joey.

Crappy TV angle but that sure looked like a HR. I guess Andy didn't complain.
Sigh

Maybe PC moved Nick to 2b anticipating these late swings by the right handed hitters? I like Cadyn at SS... great they can be interchangeable.

Beavers never "achieved" 2-0 score last night. Good sign. And Fehmel looks good

After Gretler fails to bunt Anderson over, he gets a base hit for another run, 3-0 us in 4th

This pitching backwards thing can bite you if your "long" guy is getting lit up. 2 dudes doing ok are done for the day.... What now Coach? Maybe trying to be smarter than everyone else is going to bite him today.
Sure hope so.
