Does anyone have any factual information on what the nature of Katie McWilliams "undisclosed ailment" is? I believe the Beavers really need her to have a good chance of continuing to win the games ahead. It seems odd that she has been sitting on the bench during the games rather than "recovering" in some other manner.
Also over the years, I remember a lot of OSU athletic injuries that appear to have been badly handled (Tres Tinkle's arm injury being the latest one).
Go Beavs!

Go Beavs! Doesn't seem odd to me at all. Support your teammates.

Thanks for the reply. I did not find it "odd" that she was supporting her teammates. My point was that if it is an injury or ailment that needs some type of treatment (rest, therapy, or whatever) it would be better to have her doing that than simply sitting on the bench.

There was an interesting discussion by the commentators during the game regarding Katie. They said something to the effect that she really wanted to be out there playing, but understood why she could not. Really seemed like an odd phrasing of words. Hope she is "just" ill.

Yes, as you pointed out the really important issue here is her health-basketball issues are of overall minor importance. That being said, the way it is being handled is going to lead to much speculation.

I talked to Katie last night and she said it is a concussion she is dealing with and that she will be ready to go "soon".
It was a very short discussion so that is all I have for you.

Thank you for the information. That explains why the indefinite nature of how long she will be out.
When she completes the concussion protocol she will be able to play again. Still hard to understand why OSU was not just forthcoming with what was going on.

That being said, the way it is being handled is going to lead to much speculation. HIPAA and the Privacy Act do not permit university officials to discuss anything of a personal nature. If she isn't discussing it, then speculate away because it's nobody's business.

So is it correct then, that whenever any type of injury is disclosed by a coach that the player involved has given permission for that to happen?
I was not aware of that so thank you for the information.

In an instagram photo today, at the shoot-around, she was the only one in sweats, so it seems likely she won't play tonight.

I won't disclose the injury (that's the prerogative of the coaches and Katie), but she should be fine next week. One thing you can be sure of is that her absence on the court will never be the result of character issues - on the court or off - nor of academics. Tremendous young lady!

I was thinking "Beavers have done a good job dodging the injury bug", since other than Kalmer and Thropay we were doing well. But then Katie got hit with the bug at the Pac-12 tournament.....and we certainly missed her! Likely didn't cost us that much (seeding/hosting wise), and will be good to have her back for the Big Dance.
Go Beavs!
