Rueck had a pretty crummy 3rd year record with the women's team. I guess it is possible to bounce back.

They won four conference games that down year. Lost 8 conference games by 5 points or less. Three losses in OT. Average margin of defeat 10.7 points. 

Men's team this year has won one conference game. All losses by more than 5 points. Average margin of defeat 16 points. 

Rueck's starting guard was freshman Jamie Weisner. Tinkle has Jr. Ronnie Stacy. 

Seems like a slightly different trajectory. But point well taken. 

There should be two to three classes of Robinson recruited starters on this team right now. Where are they?

Robinson had more time, but who the hell has Tinkle recruited since he got here besides the two sons of the coaches? McLaughlin was a Robinson recruit as was Duvivier if he comes back. Payton II was a Robinson recruit, as was Hallice Cook although he left most likely because of Robinson. He also recruited, Collier, Cunningham, Moreland, Brandt, Nelson, Morris Walker and Gomis I believe, as well as a couple of others were solid players. So while only Duvivier may still remain that is a good list of capable players. He was not a good basketball coach, not active enough and I thought he was trying to be too much of a friend instead of being a coach. Still out recruited WT by a bunch...

We have not had a good basketball strategist at OSU as Head Coach in the last 25 years a least. I don't know what they should do, but it is getting very frustrating for a school that ran second to UCLA for nearly 2 decades and had a great basketball history even before that. From what I have seen on the floor, (and I hope I am proved wrong) Tinkle ain't that guy either...

Not sure how you qualify McLaughlin as a Robinson recruit. Robinson was not the coach here when he signed. He committed and then decommitted while Robinson was the coach. When Tinkle came on McLaughlin was committed to Washington. I may be off some on the details, but that is what I remember. If you take out the son connection then Tinkle still has several legitimate D1 recruits in my opinion, although probably not quite enough which has led to the depth problems. I think that Eubanks and McLaughlin are good quality. I also think that Rakocevic, Manuel and Kone deserve their spots on the roster. Add in the 2 sons that gives us 7 on the roster that can compete in the Pac 12. Obviously, these 7 are not as good as the first 7 on other rosters in the league. But it seems to me that the next 6 in depth is the most glaring weakness as others teams are much deeper and can deal with bad games and players not living up to their potential.

Now into the future, I feel like Reichle coming in next year is another legitimate recruit who will provide much needed depth and Jack Thompson for the 2018 is another top 100 recruit. This pushed Tinkle to 7 quality recruits so far not counting the sons. 13 are allowed on scholarship, so we probably need more for depth especially with injuries.

So if depth is the biggest problem on this team Robinson's last class is actually probably the biggest issue. The only one Tinkle was able to keep was Gary Payton II, technically Tinkle kept Chai Baker who had to medically retire before touching the court. Cameron Oliver and Isaiah Manderson would have provided much needed court presence for this current team, as well as Chai Baker. Losing 3 out of 4 quality players that year is something Tinkle has not been able to overcome, without a redshirt year these players would be juniors and leaders on this team.

I've thought all along GP2's primary recruiter was Gary Payton. It wouldn't surprise me if both coaches had to recruit the senior Payton harder than #2
