Travesty is too mild a term to describe his actions last year. I too look forward to payback this season - not just in head to head BB games, but for years to come as Pat Casey continues to attract top talent out of Washington high schools.

I agree with you that Washington's coach, based on anything I could find, did his best to screw us over and for this does not deserve any respect from us. Your sentiment does bother me in other ways, though. Hopefully I can explain myself clearly. It is my opinion, that Oregon State had a solid resume to be in the playoffs last year and did not need a single favor from Meggs. So the selection committee as a whole was either inept or corrupt. This type of logic was the other reason I did not like the argument that we should of be in the playoffs over the other 2 teams that tied for 3rd in the Pac-12. I felt like all 3 teams had solid resumes for the playoffs and none should have worried about being left out, thus once again putting the blame back on the selection committee and no one else. |

Meggs actively campaigned for us to be left out. That is beyond the pale. I cannot fathom what the hell he was thinking. So busy looking out for #1 that he stepped in #2. We belonged in the Field of 64. He knew that, as did anyone who followed our efforts last season. The man is evil, pure evil.
While we are on this subject, I'd like to suggest to the NCAA that they stop putting AD's on the Selection Committee. What do they know about College Baseball?

Meggs did not keep us out. The selection committee did. In all the haste to rightfully hate on the guy you're giving him a little too much power in that decision. He gave input. The committee makes the call on who's in and who's out. And, Meggs along with the Pac12 being won by Utah and their 25-27 (?) record had a factor in us being left out.
Or we could have won some games we should have never lost... 2 of 3 @wsu... 3rd game vs Utah... and getting swept @ Zona... 2 of 3 to ucks!!
Meggs irks me... UW irks me... them finishing 2nd irked me even more when they gave up 33 run their last 2 league games.
As pissed as you want to get or disagree, if you leave your fate to the committee you're probably screwed.

I don't know.. I guess I think of boxing (or MMA) - You never leave it in the hands of the judges. I didn't see us as an Omaha team last year anyways - and if getting snubbed resulted in a big giant chip on the shoulder heading into this year, I'm good with that.

I know this for a fact, and I am not the only one who knows it. We have whipped the horse to death in regards as to whether we deserved to get in. All I can tell you is that our coaches, players, and most of the fans I sit with thought we deserved to be in the Field of 64. Most of us are still royally pissed that we got left out. And yes, we did get screwed. |

Agree Meggs is a primary reason we were out. Sweeping UCLA with (how many?) shutouts should have punched our ticket. Meggs jealousy re:Pat Casey recruiting is the way my pea brain sees it. Going forward, the solution is obvious.
