The Tuesday article in the Albany paper quoted Nobach as saying that he was a little nicked, but he planned on playing. I also assume that he is on scholarship so he automatically takes a roster spot even with a redshirt. My bet is that the roster will have an update before Friday.
The two things I could be missing are Nobach being on scholarship or the NCAA has changed the scholarship/roster requirement.

Very interesting. Not that I think Nobach was an irreplaceable part, but very odd to see this change so late in the game. We are now very short on right handed hitting outfielders.

PC said in an earlier interview that there were tough cuts to make and some guys going to RS. Good news if he isn't good enough to crack the lineup/ 2 deep we're in great shape!

Agreed it is most likely injury or grades. He's certainly 'good enough' to crack the roster. Started all but 6 games last season with a .759 ops; and played a great outfield.

By the looks of the Roster, he just got flat cut. Zalesky has his jersey number. Very disappointed. Nobach is one of my favorite Beavers. Always hustling! Mets got flat cut too. Joe Casey has his jersey number. Interesting that you do not redshirt one of the freshman and keep Nobach around.

Some will read more into this than others... but, different skill sets, however Nobach is twice the player AND with experience than Joe is at this time. Call it what you will. Maybe the back thing was seen as debilitating for the season unless it is rested to completely heal??? Just saying, from a neutral (I'm not at the family dinner table) position there are guys on the cut list that bring more to the table than Joe. But, at spots 26-35 there's not much PT. Or hopefully not!!

Knee. Guess is a redshirt. That would make sense. Much more than the earlier poster guessing he got "flat cut" because someone else had his jersey number.

I'm not positive, but my somewhat fuzzy memory from several last seasons' Pat Casey shows (BEAVER pre-game on radio) is that Pat really valued the intangibles that Nobach brings to the club: grit, fire, etc. It would be a long journey from THAT outlook, to being flat-out CUT. Hope the real story emerges fairly soon.
