Just saw a tweet from him that he's down to Nebraska and WSU. Crazy the he committed to OSU on national TV then left us out of his final two. Very confusing but I guess I hope he ends up at Nebraska if we're out of it

Yeah, I can see why, because both of those schools would be soooooo much easier for his family to travel to watch him play.

Well, according to GA, sometimes we back off and then the player says they are decommitting or reopening recruitment to save face.

If we were strong enough to get a commitment, then his love for Neb caused him to reopen, what transpired that could cause us to fall out of that top two?! I wonder if our coaches backed off/moved on after he decommitted?

According to Andrew Nemec there was a mutual parting of ways after he decommitted.. meaning we weren't going to wait by the phone.

Given the talent gap between us and the top teams in the conference, I would think we would wait outside 4* recruits homes in the rain with a boom box over our heads....maybe that makes us desperate, but we are 6-18 the past two seasons.

Or you look at the calendar and realize it's 10 days til signing day and you need to fill out a class and figure out which homes to go visit ASAP. Rather not wait til last call to figure out who you're going home with.

Or you look at the calendar and realize it's 10 days til signing day and you need to fill out a class and figure out which homes to go visit ASAP. Rather not wait til last call to figure out who you're going home with. Like most middle of the road and below teams we're scrambling a bit right now. You're hoping to keep your key commits, keeping in touch/ praying for a big flip or two, and scrambling to find under the radar talent that needs some "love". Recruiting is a complete crap shoot. Once they're signed no matter how big the coup, they still have to perform. The difference is that the "big boys" have more high level 3/4/5* "crap to throw at the wall" hence, more "sticks". We can't afford to have any actual signees not be contributors. It's just so funny to me that there is an entire industry built on the complete nonsense of a bunch of 18 y/os and their astute decision making. And worse yet fans that put a lot of importance on it and the so called "rankings" of said BS. The evaluations of these kids is rarely in person, if so rarely on multiple occasions, based on play vs mostly less than D1 talent... and often from guys who aren't good enough to actually coach. It's simply their paycheck and they live off the obvious recruiting talents that are really no brainers. Being a recruiting "guru" is a great gig. Rate players without truly "seeing" them, do some phone interviews with coach who has a vested interest in being the developer of such talent, and rarely be called on being wrong! "Flops" are always about the kid or college coaches fault. About like being a political "expert"... never a scoreboard to keep track of all the BS spouted, just the occasional "hit". The only way to "rank" a kid or class is after they have, or have not contributed on a D1 football field. Does it really matter if a kid is a 2* and is a stud? A 5* and doesn’t pan out for whatever reason? Is it a flop or just poor evaluations in the first place? And what does it matter if your classes are in the top 30 if it doesn't produce W's? GA's issue so far, IMHO, is not recruiting numbers and ranking. It's actually having a system to recruit to and sticking with it... specifically on offense. Is the Moran or the new JC the QB prototype? What is the type of OL you want? Other than defensive personnel and a plethora of WR the classes have no real pattern of developing a system. Nor have the coaches shown a great ability in player development. Seems that this year needs to show some real signs of developing players to a "plan". You can't just keep recruiting athletes and have to teach them how to play new positions at the college level.

You can't just keep recruiting athletes and have to teach them how to play new positions at the college level. at one point I enjoyed the recruiting game - it was something to keep me occupied between the bowl game and spring ball, watch hudl film and keep track of how our commits were doing during their senior season - but after a couple of seasons, I realized it was a pretty messy process and a lot of these kids you are looking forward to seeing play never make it in. Now I just have too much going on in my life personally to pay attention to it - I am lucky if I get to sit down and watch the game these days.
