Here is the difference - most of Beaver nation did not even know about this offer. If it was slick Willie, it would have his photo and columns of praise from indulgent duck fans for being such a go getter. It's also not an offer from USC or Norte Dame that we are competing against . The ducks are putting a kids opportunity for an education at risk, by trying to do the shoe schmooze and, quite purposely, ditching the kids future. Hey Willie, for some of these kids and families, it is not alll about you and some football. If he wants to do things this way, he should do it quietly and under the radar. The kids are the ones that pay the ultimate price for their choices. He does not need to put their decisions under a microscope for all to see, and for years to come. I keep thinking about Colt Lyerla. He ended up choosing the worst place to play football - Eugene is loaded with people and temptations that are not good environments for kids that need a more controlled situation. He made a bad decision, got tons of bad publicity and has paid the price. If you were applying for different jobs, I don't think you want to be 'lured' into a situation that you will later regret because it ruins your whole career. If you are gullible and impressed by promises over substance, that is how you mess up your career and it follows you for a long time afterwards. No... the real difference is Beaver fan looking for any reason to hate the ucks. This is ridiculous. Point being, most on here are in the loop, I am in the loop, but do not search out items to just hate on the ucks. Knew zero of all this supposed Taggart publicity until I come here. Most just skip over uck news. But oh no, not this stupid thread. Holy cow, we won the CW, they fired maybe the only coach in their staff with any integrity... actually leading to firing rise with none... they make what seems to be a questionable if not weird hire. But, thus entire thread of WT being all about "look at me" is ludicrous and quite frankly embarrassing. Glove... why is this still in this thread? This is not about Beaver football, OSU, and enough is enough. Really? WT is the "look at me" one here? Jeez, some on here need to grow up. I think you meant "on this board" not "in this thread." It's off-season and it's not on the main OSU football board so it slipped by my attention. But now that its a morphed into a discussion of OSU recruiting and ad hominem attacks, I'll leave it be.

@glove -Where would you get that ? I have very few options for OSU Beaver news and discussions. I don't like the bias and editing that comes from these sources. We are being treated like 'little bro' and we have more to offer an athlete ( except in terms of shoes, uniforms and athletic facilities - but, does a kid need that to be successful, I mean - over the top pampering ). Our athletic facilities are more than adequate and are getting better every year. Educationally, depending on what a kid wants to do, he will do far better with an OSU degree than a duck 'diploma'. A very high percentage of the duck crap that we have to put up with comes from 'fans' that couldn't find their way to the uo campus with a GPS system. They scream the loudest and use every opportunity to berate our program and our school. This, unfortunately ( unchallenged), sticks in the minds of potential students, athletes and their families. 'We' need to put the real facts out there, because - otherwise - you allow those negative influences to define your school and sports programs. I am a top level donor that is committed to my alma mater in more ways than just words and I will always defend the facts and the school, whether academics or athletics. I am glad that we have Ed Ray driving the boat and that Bob DeCarolis is gone... the previous group and some coaches - believed we could not compete and had nothing to offer. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you want to build your site and have a healthy discussion of ALL things related to OSU athletics, then you need to look at everything internally and externally that either expands or negatively impacts our competitiveness. If you know business ( and I KNOW you do ), it's all about the message ( you can have a positive image or a negative image - YOU need to be in control of that perception ). BTW, run well - you SHOULD charge for membership. I got the Beaver Blitz package, and it is useless. I will gladly subscribe as you, and a few other posters, actually have some advance, insider information that I am looking for.

My comment was in regards to subscribing to the Oregonian when it is available for free online. It was kind of a joke, like you must hate money to waste it on the subscription. I read it online and only look for OSU items. Maybe that's why I'm missing their UO bias. And thanks for being a supporter OSU. That's huge. As far as making this place worth a membership charge...we would have to provide, in my opinion some unique content that you couldn't get elsewhere. We have some very valuable, informative posters here but I'm not going to charge you for what they put out and then not compensate them. The Blitz (former BF.com) and BeaversEdge (former Blitz) try to monetize by providing "insider" information on recruiting mainly. It's just not worth it. Any info they have is out there for free on Twitter and other online sources. The struggles of the Rivals and Scout networks are very real. Go Beavs!

Thanks for reply. The membership value to me, and I am sure others, is that I do not have time to search the Twitter universe and other sources for OSU Beaver news. I, at this time of year, am always very interested in recruiting news. What I have quick, and somewhat accurate access to, is either espn listings or just looking at a few big names that I have seen mentioned and that I wish to follow. I am performing Consulting for 'several' medical firms all over the world - including 2 in the US. Thus, my inability to get accurate timely news is limited. I had never seen any information on the Colorado offer ( mentioned yesterday ), nor had I seen anything on the WBB recruit ( jr in HS - thus 2018 ). I love seeing this stuff because it shows how committed the coaches and their staffs are to maintaining or building our sports programs, which, in turn, raise our presence in the National scheme of things. So, your point regarding compensating the 'serious' contributors is a real one. I would look at it like a 'start up'. In other words, focus on building the business model and nailing the subscribers down - with the promise to contributors that there will be a profit sharing pool based on success. I don't think most of these guys are looking for big dollars, they are just passionate about what they are doing and they deserve the recognition as well as 'some' small share of the sites success. I don't know what a fair subscription amount would be, but, I am sure that you have expenses beyond time, that will need to be funded for growth. I don't care, if I get better information than I am now getting from other sources - I, and others, I am sure - will pay for it. Would be great to have a guy with Kerry Eggers connections on your team. That guy gets it right and has the connections.
