Lost 60 - 79. Watched the last quarter and it seems like there was some good effort. I think the team will improve throughout the season.

Super Hustle awards go to Ferreira with a double-double (40 minutes, 22 points, 11 rebounds) and Schuler (35 minutes, 17 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists). Both played really hard the entire game. Nice to see Ferreira on the floor for so long. She needs to be out there more. Also, Rees was side-lined with 4 fouls, so not effective this game. Marrotte of course also played hard, but not effective offensively yet. Rueck still trying to help the team figure it out.

If you are disappointed in the trajectory of our football team, then I caution you when you look at the Beavers WBB trajectory this year. Coach Reuck was delt a terrible hand to play this year, but if I was to handicap the over/ under on total wins this year at 12, I'm taking the Under. Hope I'm wrong. Good luck Coach.

What the football team is doing or not doing has nothing to do with the women's basketball program. I agree with the other posters in that, while they lost, there were some real signs of hope today (unlike yesterday). Ferreira is a real find and Shuler is really coming into her own, now that she's playing a more prominent role. Rees with foul trouble couldn't do much, but that is atypical and she'll have more impact, just as she has in previous games this season. They weren't ready to face the high majors this weekend, but I agree with the TV announcer who said the Beavs will make a big impact in the WCC. Their height alone will likely cause several WCC teams fits.

I'd like to hear from folks...in my mind Kennedie continues to dribble into trouble, not anticipating double teams etc. If my memory is good, she did this last year too. I'm a huge fan of her and this is the only big complaint I have. Am I totally wrong, if not, can Syd or ? help her see this and correct this?

My observation of Kennedie this game was that in the first half she was over dribbling and dribbling into double teams as she had been doing last year. But that started to change in the 3rd Q, and by the 4th Q she was aggressively penetrating to the paint and trying to score before passing, culminating in either a layup, pull up jumper, or shooting foul. She was 5-8 FG and 7-11 from the line. For me it was satisfying to see her actually grow more into her position as point guard in real time. There was a determination to her game today that I had not seen before. I suspect Syd is involved here. I hope Kennedie keeps at it.

She was really slumping towards the end of last season (so hasn't been effective offensively for a while), and this season is even worse - less than 25% from the floor, about 12% from 3. Giving the Beavers about 2.5 baskets a game this season, in ~33 minutes per game. I see promise in some of the newcomers, but SR might need to distribute some of AJs minutes elsewhere for scoring. Let's hope she can shoot her way out of the slump if SR keeps her out there so much (she is taking 10+ shots a game, so not for lack of trying thus far). Go Beavers!

I wonder if it might be a vision issue that hasn't been detected or diagnosed yet. I have had vision issues my entire life, and subtle changes have caused issues with seeing well from time to time.

What is going on with the new 6 foot 5 post from Europe. She seemed to have talent. Why is she not getting any looks. She couldnt be much worst then the other posts. What gives with her play?

Shooting consistency has not been AJ’s trademark (last season her FG% was < 40 in over half of the games), but in the early going this season she’s 4 of 27, not counting the exhibition game. Her contribution is unquestioned, but she clearly hasn’t reached her comfort point. Is it possible that she’s putting too much pressure on herself as the identified leader of a decimated / underdog squad?

Let us know when you see a SR team regress week after week. Where we don't see players improving? The difference? The above will not happen. The WBB coach has some experience with bad breaks, talent deficits, and has a track record of finding players and building them up. "Bad hand" might be similar, but "who's" handling it is far different. I'll bet what you'll see thru as the season progresses will be totally different. The "Ws" don't measure everything.

At numerous times during the game, it seemed like our guards blew by their opponent and took it to the hoop, only to pass which often resulted in a travel rather than just scoring. Did others see that too?
