AJ is not only struggling offensively, but AJ is not showing much leadership on offense. AJ has had multiple opportunities to go 1v1 with her defender and she seems very hesitant to do so and often gets caught up in the air looking to pass. On the other hand, Kennedie is really working hard on offense and I see her improving a great deal from game to game.

Shooting consistency has not been AJ’s trademark (last season her FG% was < 40 in over half of the games), but in the early going this season she’s 4 of 27, not counting the exhibition game. Her contribution is unquestioned, but she clearly hasn’t reached her comfort point. Is it possible that she’s putting too much pressure on herself as the identified leader of a decimated / underdog squad? Or maybe this is the player she's always been You make a good point - AJ over 90 games is essentially a 6 ppg player - whether she is getting 15 minutes a game (frosh) or 33 mpg (this season). Catarina Ferreira has already shown more scoring potential in the course of 4 games. Schuler and Heide have definitely upped their scoring game, but beyond that SR has a real conundrum - not only do a couple of the seasoned/returning veterans not have much scoring punch thus far - creating an issue of "where are the points going to come from?", his teams have year in and year out not taken good care of the ball, and 20+ turnovers a game and several non-productive starters is giving us the losing results we are seeing. Could be a rough season from a W-L perspective if some "Kolbie leaps" don't occur, and occur fast, or the starting lineup gets shaken up...... Go Beavers!

At numerous times during the game, it seemed like our guards blew by their opponent and took it to the hoop, only to pass which often resulted in a travel rather than just scoring. Did others see that too? I remember shouting to the tv "shoot it, you are there" at least once, Cloe V. was one of them , alone at the rim and passed.

Love AJ for her loyalty, defensive hustle, rare true women's hoops jumpshot, and playbook knowledge.
But she's got Gabby Hansen's critical weakness: bricklayer from the field.
I feel cruel to say it, felt cruel when Gabby was winning DPOY in our former league. I think shooting percentages support me.

Don't know what is going on with AJ. Maybe her leg is still bothering her?

I am just going off my memory on this---I didn't go back and actually check her stats---but it seems like AJ over the course of her career here has had good shooting games about every 6-7 games and then the rest of the time bricklayer is a good description of her shooting.

Over the past three years AJ has fairly consistently shot about 40% from the 2, and 30% from the 3. This year she is shooting 33% from the 2, and 17% from the 3.
