According to the Oregonian:
An announcement could come as early as Thursday - it is being reported the PAC-2 is expanding with four MWC schools leaving to join OSU and WSU in forming the PAC-6 with a goal of adding more teams to form an 8 team Conference by 2026 or 2027.
The four MWC schools leaving the MWC are Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State and Fresno State. WSU and OSU will pay the exit fees of $43 mil to the MWC from their conference war chest.
The New MWC will consist of Hawaii, Utah State, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, UNLV, San Jose State. They may be considering expanding as well.
FWIW: A good question to ask - will Colorado State and Boise State add baseball to their athletic agenda?

I’m an Oregonlive subscriber and I don’t see any mention of it on their webpage If true this certainly explains OSU and MWC not renewing for ‘25.

I would be shocked if Boise St tries the baseball thing again; they dropped a pretty solid wrestling program to add baseball - played a total of 14 games than Covid hit and they dropped baseball again. They never even had their own home field. The AD at the time's favourite sport was baseball so it was his passion project and it didn't work out. That AD is no longer the AD so I don't see it coming back.

It will just be dependent on if they new media contract for the new Pac-12 supplies them with enough money to do so.

Is it possible baseball remains independent? Especially if we see this next year that we can produce a schedule that remains at a “power” level?

Baseball is an expensive sport and whatever rent is at the minor league field won't be cheap either. I'm not sure their exact T9 situation but unless Pac12 conference HQ mandates it as a sponsored sport I don't see them going back to that well; would pull a fair amount of financial resources from their current sports

How has this remained here when every other post on the subject of expansion has been moved to The Rotating Tap despite it being explicitly for sports NOT related to OSU?

I’m curious how this directly impacts the Baseball program and recruiting. Do the coaches like the idea or do we run the risk of losing coaches and players?

The four MWC schools will not officially join the new PAC until July 1, 2026.
I would assume that means a second year of Independent baseball in 2026 for the Beaver program.
