Tennessee comes from behind to win it in the bottom of the 9th, 12-11. 4, count ‘em, 4 runs in the 9th.

I thought they got a reprieve on a check swing call that would have killed the rally

I thought they got a reprieve on a check swing call that would have killed the rally I watched it and FSU got jobbed IMO. Also, IMO, they could make that call so much easier. If it's even close, call it a strike. The whole breaking of the wrist stuff is ridiculous, especially when the bat covers the plate. He offered but just didn't give it his all. Dumb controversy. I feel better.

Benefit of inducing a partial swing should go to the pitcher, goodness knows they have to swallow the check swing singles regardless.

Different perspective to watch CWS without our Beavs in it. Kentucky pitchers seem to have great stuff particularly when ahead in count.

Washing bad memories of how our season ended by watching NC State vs Kentucky. Pitchers throwing strikes, hitters taking good at bats, executing small ball and tight defense. Very enjoyable to watch. I think you can still win that way

Ok...too damn funny at moment. Bottom of 9th game tied at CWS. Kentucky fans make no noise. Very busy waving arms though. I had my suspicions about why they kept music so loud for so long in super regional. Athletic department feared that 500 OSU fans could generate more noise than 7000 of the Kentucky faithful.

Washing bad memories of how our season ended by watching NC State vs Kentucky. Pitchers throwing strikes, hitters taking good at bats, executing small ball and tight defense. Very enjoyable to watch. I think you can still win that way I'm no expert, but from what I have seen, small ball is much more active and tenacious than playing big boy ball. I also think that the problem with the home run mindset is that hitters are looking for that pitch that they can send skyward, and those only come against better pitchers when they make a mistake, so they end up watching a lot of balls go by. I also think hitting is infectious. When a team is hitting, everybody hits. By definition, then, small ball will have more hits and more activity than aiming for the bleachers. Personally, I like small ball and, in particular, Casey's brand of small ball. It was smart and it meant that every pitch is meaningful which creates a more interesting game.

In 2018 we had 66 successful sac bunts in 67 games, or .985 per game.
In 2024 we had 23 successful sac bunts in 61 games, or .377 per game.
That's a difference of .608 per game, or about 35 bunts over a 60 game season. Less than one per game.
Believe analytics or not, but the numbers show most of the time a sac bunt is essentially a wasted out.

My problem with analytics is that it treats all situations the same. Scenario #1, beavers need a run. Madrigal running at 1st, bunter is either Andy Petersen or Andy Armstrong. Hitting behind them is Adley and Bazanna. Scenario #2. Tanner smith running, Wilson Weber bunting, hitting behind is Mason and Jacob Kreig Analytics does not take in the variable of the situations. They have some value but are not the gospel
