Embarrassed my arse. They were stymied at the plate and had one really bad inning on defense. The game got away from them. The only way to guarantee not getting beat badly in game one of the Super Regional is to never make it to a Super Regional. You call it now you want. But, if you are only chasing 3 runs and the relievers you choose can't throw competitive pitches (Ferguson was TERRIBLE), you randomly pitch hit to sub weaker defensive players, you give up 7 runs on 2 hits... as a national seed... embarrassing. BTW their pitcher(s) caused none of that. A 3-0 loss would be tough, but not embarrassing. But, you do you. At the point we were pinch-hitting (T7), defense didn't really matter. Three runs were going to be enough to win if we didn't score. Carraway got on base. As far as the relievers go, yes, they were terrible. But Hutchison had been solid in his last 3-4 outings and it was 7-0 and over by the time Ferguson came in. No need to waste anyone else.

The other thing watching the game. Slider slider slider slider. May has an elite Fastball with an elite slider. Good mix is needed against top level hitters.

Just finished watching on DVR. Even down 3-0 seemed like too much to overcome. We did not show up at the plate at all. And then the wheels fell off in the 7th. Hopefully a better effort tomorrow, but damn we better bring it, cuz we sure didn't today. Really? Too much to overcome even when we had the bases loaded with what, no outs? The one time that Oregon State had bases loaded, it was with one out. It was still 1-0. Oregon State only managed Caraway's walk from there on out.

My simple, but complete and thorough, analysis of the game is the same after 9 innings as after 7 innings. It doesn't matter if you allow 1, 2, 3 or 10 runs if you don't score you can't win.

Bats were the issue. The whole dynamic of how both teams play changes if we have some runs. Plus you literally can't win with no runs.

Their pitcher was great. We’ve had poor showings at the plate before, but we hadn’t been shut out or limited to one hit all season. Dominating pitcher performance, exemplified by getting out #2 and #3 hitters to strikeout with bases loaded to end the threat. That was the pivotal part of the game. We could have knocked him out right then, but he shut us done. Gotta hand it to them.

Whether you believe we got embarrassed yesterday or not, there is no question that Georgia was humiliated at home. They were lost and managed only four hits. They are better than that, and they have come out raking so far today. We have guys, and we have pride, I see no reason why we cannot flip the script today and battle on till Monday.
Start leveling the ball, and stop trying to hit 6 run home runs!
