This will be shocking to west coast fans but RPI might be a s%#tty predictor of wins when the teams with the best RPI are basically always keeping it in the family with OOC to boost their RPI. SEC and ACC both play a bunch of the same fodder at home.

This will be shocking to west coast fans but RPI might be a s%#tty predictor of wins when the teams with the best RPI are basically always keeping it in the family with OOC to boost their RPI. SEC and ACC both play a bunch of the same fodder at home. As far as I've read here no one used it as a predictor of anything but postseason selection and comparison purposes. As you know RPI is 75% based on what your opponents and their opponents do. In baseball there are no good predictors of "wins". Every team in the field has "studs". Teams, let's say 33-64, just have less depth of talent. The same goes with folks using stats to justify who should win. Every pitch, play, and game is an individual set if events. It's why fans cry, "... how can we only score 4 runs over 2 games vs ask these ERAs over 5!" Cuz it's baseball! It's what makes college baseball the best, and at times, the most aggravating sport. You truly never know. |

10 in the books so far.
#2 Kentucky, #3 Texas A&M, #7 Georgia, #8 Florida State, & #12 Virginia all won.
Evansville upset #16 East Carolina in the Greenville Regional, which blows that Regional wide open.
LSU beat Wofford in the first game of the Chapel Hill Regional. LSU was the only two-seed that has won so far.
Coastal Carolina upset Vandy, Connecticut upset Duke, and Indiana upset Southern Miss.
Irvine is beating Nicholls 3-1 in the top of the fourth.
James Madison is up 7-5 in the bottom of the ninth against South Carolina in the Raleigh Regional. The Athens and Raleigh Regional winners will play the winner of the Corvallis and Lexington Regionals in Game One at Omaha.
There are two other games in the bottom half of the bracket right now. In the Santa Barbara Regional, Oregon leads San Diego 3-1 in the top of the eighth. In the Stillwater Regional, Nebraska leads Florida 3-2 in the top of the seventh.
There are two games going in the top half of the bracket. West Virginia leads Dallas Baptist 4-0 in the bottom of the eighth. Arkansas has its hands full with Southeast Missouri State. 8-8 in the bottom of the fifth.

100%, although I will say I think Nicholls is one of the weakest 3 seeds in the field. Still, 9 runs in 3+ innings against their ace+pen is nothing to sneeze at. |
