I can see that 5 SEC schools will host the regionals in top 8 seeds and 6 SEC schools are invited to play in the bottom 8 seeds so Committes hope to see 100% SEC schools win and advance to the Super Regionals. Only 5 SEC schools can advance to CWS while 6 SEC schools have to play each other and only 3 SEC schools can advance to CWS therefore there is possible to see all 8 SEC schools in CWS!! What do you think about this strategy by committes???

What do we know about Tulane's club? Pretty good Friday guy and closer. Led the AAC in home runs. They don’t have much depth on the mound after the Friday guy. They can hit. I think every team in this regional has a good offense. Luc Fladda (LHP) was the Friday guy. He has an ERA of 5.28. He started the Thursday game against Charlotte and then came back on two days' rest to pitch the final five outs yesterday in the Championship Game. Chandler Welch (RHP) was the Saturday guy. He has an ERA of 4.24. He started the Tuesday game against Florida Atlantic and then came back on four days' (MLB full) rest to start the Championship Game against Wichita State. Blaise Wilcenski (RHP) was the Sunday guy, but he did not pitch at all in the American Athletic Conference Tournament. ERA of 5.82. Billy Price (LHP), a Virginia transfer, who seems to have been elevated from the bullpen the last two weekends threw a complete game in the Semifinal on Saturday. Price may be one of the best pitchers on the team with an ERA of 2.76. Jacob Moore (RHP) is the closer, probably one of the two best pitchers on the team with an ERA of 3.07. Michael Lombardi (RHP) is the best reliever otherwise with an ERA of 3.49. Four of the other nine other regular pitchers are lefties. Pretty balanced staff. Auburn made Mitchy Slick look stupid with two lefty relievers in 2022. I hope that Mitchy Slick has learned from that blunder. I am honestly more concerned that Price will start on Friday, just based on how good he has been throughout May (1.31 ERA) and little else. If it is Fladda, Welch, or Wilcenski, I am considerably more optimistic. If it is Price, maybe throw May. Otherwise, if Irvine saves Nick Pinto, maybe save May as well. My inclination is to save May, because Irvine (and Nicholls, as well) seem more problematic than Tulane.

Florida did not deserve to be in, but that is my only qualm with the SEC teams. Oregon State is hosting. No SEC teams in Corvallis. The Beavs were paired with probably the third-trickiest top 8 seed, which is unfortunate, but, otherwise, what do we care? Don't like what the Committee did? Win out.

That’s Nicholls best bullet after that the staff kind of goes down hill. Tulane is the hottest 4 seed in the country. Playing with fire if we try and get cute imo. But I don’t have a problem going Kmatz game 1. Honestly don’t think there’s a performance gap between Kmatz and May when they are on but Mays def got some better stuff which would help against UCI. Like I said this is an offensive regional. Roll out our best lineup and score in bunches.

We owe Irvine some payback don't we? IIRC they eliminated us several years ago when we were the overall #1 seed. Also the UCSB regional is all west coast..interesting regional Also Tulane for interfering in 2005.

I think it's fine so long as both guys go games 1 and 2, whatever order be damned. We simply can't afford to get into a loser's bracket scenario as our bullpen depth will do us in if we have to play 5 games to win the regional (if we lose games 1 or 2 then we have to win game 3 just to get in a scenario where we have to win 2 games to advance). I like our chances of at least taking 1 of 2 in games with Segura and Lattery/Hunter starting cause our offense is bound to have a good day at least once in those 2 chances.

Also the UCSB regional is all west coast..interesting regional Also Tulane for interfering in 2005. Nickerson was dominate through six, but Tulane's starter, Micah Owings, who was still pitching, led of the seventh with a single. Mark Hamilton laid down an awful bunt, and Owings was thrown out at second. But Owings managed to break up the double-play. After a second out, which should have ended the inning, Brian Bogusevic singled. Smelling blood, Tulane brought up a pinch hitter for the eight-hitter, who hit a double to right center on Nickerson's 100th pitch. 2-1 Tulane. It could have been worse, but Cole Gillespie threw the pinch hitter out at the plate after a base hit on Nickerson's 103rd pitch. As opposed to bringing in Gunderson in a save situation, Oregon State brought in Eddie Kunz, who piped his first pitch, and the ball landed beyond the fence in left. 3-1 Tulane. The call basically cost Oregon State the game and the winners' bracket. The Beavs would blow a 2-0 fourth inning lead and ultimately lose 4-3 in 10 the next day for a swift exit from Omaha. Owings, Hamilton, and Bogusevic all wound up playing multiple years in the Majors.

This might be a stupid question but how did Auburns LH relievers make MC look stupid? They didn’t. Not every loss is on the coaches. beaverinsider211Game One Tommy Sheehan comes on in the second in a 4-4 ball game. 3.1 innings later, it is the sixth, and Auburn is up 6-4. In that time, Sheehan only gave up a walk and two singles. Three strikeouts. Carson Skipper throws the next three. Melton is the only baserunner, picking up a six-pitch walk. A majority of the outs are strikeouts. Blake Burkhalter comes on in the ninth in a 7-4 ballgame. Boyd leads off the frame with a single, and Melton doubles him home, but that is it. 7-5 Auburn. Sheehan picks up the win. Sheehan will never play professional baseball. Game Three On one day's rest, Skipper comes back and strikes out Melton and Bazzana to get out of a two-on and one out jam, preserving the 2-1 lead. Skipper throws a perfect sixth. The lead balloons to 4-1. Skipper gives up Boyd's two-run shot to make it 4-3 but recovers to strike out Wade Meckler. Four of the six outs were strikeouts. And that is enough for Burkhalter to finish off the final 2.2 innings, not allowing a baserunner thereafter, for a 4-3 win. Skipper picks up the win. Over the two days, the only pinch hitter is Tanner Smith coming on to hit for Gavin Logan on day three. Smith flew out to right on the second pitch that he saw for one of Skipper's two non-strikeouts on Day Three. Fuchs came on for Derne up against Burkhalter in the eighth. Fuchs grounded out to short on the third pitch. Skipper and Burkhalter are great pitchers. But the same was not true of Sheehan. And nothing was done offensively to counter Sheehan, Skipper, or Burkhalter. It did not look like the guys knew what would be coming. The offense got to the bullpen early in both games but could do almost nothing thereafter. Three runs against the bullpen over 12 innings in the two losses. Just awful to watch.
